replacement key and remote

Ted Russel Ford in Knoxville wants to charge me $40 for a new key, $65 for a remote, and $80 to program that remote. That $80 charge is ridiculous. Can I just buy a remote and program it myself from somewhere?

They will only let me program it myself if I buy two remotes.

It's not that "they" won't let you program it yourself unless you buy two remotes, it's not possible to program it yourself unless you have two remotes.

Sorry. You're hosed unless you can find yourself another place that'll do it cheaper.

When I bought my 2007 ST, it only came with one key fob (or remote). I asked for another one. Some one from the service department took me out and showed me the combination of things to do to program the new fob However I do not remember the combination of things.

It was something like cycle key to battery and off again 4 times, 4th time keep it on battery position, press button on key fob

EDIT: Found the procedure for programming new key fob: Read this....CLICK HERE

Now this wont work for programming a new KEY which has the PATS system involved.

I was going to say, I know I read in the factory manual I have in the glove box on how to reprogram a keyfob. You can buy focus keyfobs new and used on ebay.
