Trade for 89 gt mustang?

Went today looked at this stang guy had for sale. 5000 asking with 5 speed clean title. Stipulation i purposed was trade straight up for my 05 st with a previous salvage title due to hail. Dont no if its a good idea going from an 05 to 89 but car is basically my weekend warrior. I have alot into my car and the gt is stock save for intake exhaust. What you guys think good deal or no?

Pass- a clean stock gt 5.0 in my area go for 2-4,500 (so cal 100% no rust) and u can get quick ones for 8k. Cut ur gas mpg in half for the gt. I say boost ur 2.3 and smoke the gt!

Go with the GT, post some pictures so we can see the condition of it. Your 05 ST will never be worth much due to it's salvage title. Not many people want a car with a salvage title due to the risk. Even if you say it's hail damage I wouldn't buy it. Plus the '89 GT can be a little weekend toy for you in the future if you mod it up correctly. The Focus will always be a family car, while the GT is racecar.

Honestly, go with the GT.

i say stick focus because those mustangs are a dime a dozen. Your focus may be a slavage title, but if you arent having issues with it, then its the better option.

Hatch or notch?

A notch I'd do in a heartbeat. hatch not so much as they are a dime a dozen.

But what is your car goal?
If it's a track/road car then keep the Focus. Good suspension for a Fox body isn't cheap, and cheap suspension isn't good. Sure it's more power out of the box, but to get it to the ground takes more effort.
If you're in it for straightline then the Fox is for you. You can do low 13's for little to nothing. I've seen the EFI 5.0 pull low 300whp on pump gas and a very good tune in 100% stock form.

ya its a hatch fresh paint no bondo fiberglass hood. I just seen it parked at a little dealer in town and stopped. Called the guy and asked if he was interested in my focus as trade. He said no untill he seen it, Then things changed. I ran him through the mods and he was very interested. So much so he said give me a grand and your car and its yours. I declined and told him no cash. hes gonna call me in the morning which gives me time to think. Ive always wanted one but my focus is my "work of art" if you will. Now im just thinking of how much cash and how long it will take to get that from this stang

If anything the hatchbacks are the nicest form of the Mustang not an ugly notchback. You can keep the notch. Hatchback is where it's at. Please get that 5.0 if it's not beaten.
