Has the new Focus lost "it"

First off, let's not bash or any of that.

I've been noticing far less love for the third gen Foci from their owners than for the older models. People just don't seem as excited about driving them or modding them.

Is it because they haven't been out for very long and are having some growing pains, or it is because by becoming a larger, more feature stuffed car it has lost some of the seat of the pants feel when you drive them?

Will the new ST do anything to change the trend?

I do think the new focus is either less attractive or too much money right now for those of us who like to bring attention to ourselves and emit noise pollution. Don't worry, in a couple of years the focus will be back on the tuner scene.

I'm kind of thinking that it won't. It feels more like the Fiesta has taken over the torch.

It does seem like the Fiesta will take the torch but it has been around a few years longer and was marketed to the younger America. As far as the US MK3, yeah its a lot nicer then the last and more mature in a sense but look at the polarity of modding Audis. They are marketed to the business types but they still get modded. After a few years we'll start seeing a lot more parts for them and I'm sure they'll catch up.

seems to me the Focus has moved up now and now the Fiesta is what the older Focus's use to be... more like the old ZX3 hatchback IMO.

I hope so. I just don't hear new owners talking about how much they love their cars.

I bought my ZX3 new off the lot and loved it immeadiately. I couldn't shut up about it.

It also didn't break, though.

go peek into the '12 non performance section: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/f...play.php?f=121
that place is popping with excitement.

The reason you haven't seen many people modifying is they are too new. There isn't that many parts available, they are ALL still under warranty, and in general I don't think people are that anxious to start tearing apart a brand new car. On my old car I modified it mostly because it needed those new parts and I was just upgrading.

I'm just curious to see. I keep hearing over and over about how excited the people are, right up until the car shows up with a sagging headliner or something like that.

I do see some of the guys talking about new exhausts and tinting windows and things like that, so I've got some hope for it.

I just don't know if it is too early to start calling it for the Fiesta.

Because people take up all their time complaining about it rather than for simple things for instance, and stepping back to solve them first. Grant it things will go wrong, it's a brand NEW car nothing is perfect. But I'm more than overjoyed to be replacing my plain and boring 2001 Michigan rust bucket that has 162,XXX miles on it for something that has a few "complications" here and there. When something new comes out it will always be a learning experience for everyone involved!

That's what I'm interested in hearing. When you drive your gen 3, does it give you a thrill?
