Gasoline: notice raising premium to $0.30 over regular?

Seems gas stations have been in the process of raising midlevel gas to fifteen centa gallon instead of ten cents, and Premium to thirty cents over regular gas.
Over and over various stations in my area have been trying to raise the price difference, then backing off.
====================================
Just wonder if this is going on in other parts of the country?
====================================
Trying to Google it was futile.
I was using Premium in my new Focus, and went in to my station and TOLD the guy if they keep it at thirty cents I will not buy gas there anymore!
I will, but a threat worked last time..
So this half tank i just bought regular.
If it does not go down to twenty cent difference, i probably will go with every other fill (usually half tank) of one or the other.

Depends on where you go and what station you use. I do notice the difference between the different octanes between stations.

Doesn't matter the cost to me....running that premium fuel is one less worry for something going wrong with the engine while I'm in the boost.

A station near me wants 3.32 gal for regular, and 3.75 for premium. I am so glad I got rid of my Mazda cx7 that used premium.

A small, but noticeable increase. Mid grade is still $.10 more than regular and premium is $.25 more. It used to be just a $.10 increase per grade.

premium is roughly $.40 more than the mid grade but here the mid grade is usually $.10-$.15 cheaper than regular.

I've been using premium so long I don't even look at the price anymore.

This is hardly news, its been this way for years around here with up to 50 cents variation. The price differences are typically due to the fact that regular gas sells 3-4x faster than premium or midgrade so when prices drop regular will drop faster because the supply is replaced faster at a lower cost.

If your 2012 Focus calls for Premium (I don't know if they do) then spend the extra 3 bucks and put in the right gas each fill. Its a small price to pay to keep your engine running properly for 350+ miles.

Good thing the Focus is designed to run properly on the regular grade of gas. That is one of the requirements for any car I purchase.

Focus = economy car = cheap to buy, maintain and operate. Don't intend to spend more than I have to, to operate the car and fuel is a major operating expense. I know the mod crowd views things a little differently but that is how I roll.

Amen to that. And both of my cars, the ST and XR4Ti, use premium and I'll never put lower grade in them.

When prices are stable the difference stabilizes at $.20 between regular and premium. I do notice when prices are going up that all three grades go up evenly. But when prices are dropping premium lags as as stated in a previous post because of the lower volume. The one thing that annoys me (not that I use much) is mid grade is blended in the pump from regular and premium and I will see it staying right there $.10 below premium even when regular has dropped $.20 or $.30, it should always be midpoint between the two.
