Transmission FLuid

Hi guys,
Never posted here but I really need some help. I have a 2005 Ford Focus ZX-5 that has about 204,000 highway miles on it. I've never changed the transmission fluid and recently I've noticed when accelerating my car seems to rev up and be louder more than usual and I'm thinking it's time to change the Transmission fluid. There hasn't been any slipping it's just louder. I had my exhaust etc checked and it's not that at all.

I know I shouldn't flush it but do you think a fluid drain and replacement of the filter will help or only hurt my transmission? Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

-Cody

Manual tranny? or auto?
Either way, 200,000 yeah you need new fluid.
The louder noise is probably some internal muffler bracket or panel corroded through. so the muffler is less restrictive now. Not really a problem, though it is wearing out in there...
