Smile Hey, new member here, need some advice

Hey all, I'm new to the Focus scene. I own a '96 Mustang GT with a few mods, but I've been eyeing the new Focus' lately. (Especially the SVT) I plan on sellin my GT for a Focus as soon as it gets 100k miles on it. I was just wondering, how much would a used SVT cost, and is it worth the extra cash over the plain 'ol Zetec? And how is the aftermarket for the Zetec engine? And what kind of horsepower is available from the car, and how fast can they go in the 1/4?

But alot of guys think the Focus is ugly, and that its a "chick" car, but I personally love its edgy european looks. I also love the cool interior, and the interior is of alot better quality than my GT. Call me crazy, (everyone does) but probably my favorite body style of focus is the wagon. :D I think a lowered focus wagon with 17 inch rims and subs filling the hatch just looks killer. Although the 3 door hatch comes in a close second.

Anyways, thanks for your help guys!

Alot of aftermarket parts for the zetec, not alot for the SVT. The zetec produces 130 hp at the flywheel but produces around 105 wheel horse power. As for the cost of a used SVT, I'm not sure, best bet is to go around to dealers and check for yourself. The SVT is just a modified zetec from the factory, thats all it is, a zetec basically modified.

Here are just a few places you can get parts, just to give you an idea:
www.myfordperformance.com
www.modernperformance.com
www.newedgeperformance.com
www.european-parts.net

You should be able to get a take on a what is available, there is a huge list in the Information Archive forum...

don't even bother with the SVT IMO. just go for a wagon or ZX3 because the aftermarket is strong and they have a lot of potential. just make sure that if you get the wagon, get a Zetec. btw, welcome buddy.

What's up?
I agree that you should go with a wagon or a ZX3 (or a ZX5 if you like those.) SVT's are sweet but I really don't think that there is much you can find out there for it like the Zetec. Plus there also might not be too many used SVTF out there.

I test drove a Sonic Blue SVT Downright beautiful car. The problem with the SVT is that it is a built hot rod already. The aftermarket is slow for the SVT compared to the Zetec because fo this. It all comes down to what you like. Either you like to work on your car (Zetec) or just be happy with the way it is (SVT). Just to let you know I got a Black ZX3. Love to drive it a ton more than my mustang and a lot of fun to modify too !!

Unfortunately, the best we get here in the states is an SVT Focus.
No RS in US.

I think I may just get a zx3 though, as they also tend to be cheaper than the wagons. Another problem with the wagon is about 95% of them are automatics. I hear there is some turbo kits emerging for Focus. Anybody know about these and how they work on the car?
