Help me decide

I cant decide what I want to do! I leave for basic in one month, and my wife is going to give her P.O.S. car to her sister to drive to school, and drive my Si while im gone. But the thing is, she DOES NOT take care of cars, and I will be worried sick about my car when im gone since I love it and all lol She swears she will take care of it and all, but I know her and cars. She trashes the interior, parks like crap so people always door ding, etc etc. Should I buy another car for her? or let her abuse my nice ride? If we do buy another ride for her it will be about $758 for car payments/insurance per month. Seems like an awful lot to pay just for the assurance that my Si will be ok while im gone. Help?

First things first... get some decent seats covers (neoprene ones even, theyre not cheap but they work), and put down really good plastic floor mats, like the ones people put in trucks that contain everything... basically idiot proof the interior. As far as the exterior... throw a coat of wax on it before you leave and sit down and talk to her seriously about how you want her to park better and park further away in parking lots.

Get her a beater if your really that scared. Pay less then 2000, expect it to break, expect it to be dinged. when she learns to nicely take care of the beater then get her the nicer car. But not until she can be responsible with something of less value. what are you going to do, never let her behind the wheel of your car when you are around? better off learning to take car of a car now, its not like its her last.

Everytime I do sit her down and talk to her about it, it usually turns into an argument. She says "Ill take care of your car!" But how do I know she will when she cant take care of anything else?

Yeah, No.

Why can't she keep her car and let her sister worry about getting something else.
You just bought that car and your going to leave it with you g/f for 16 weeks? or what ever basic is...

I would park it in a public storage locker and go buy her an old j-body to rattle around in while you gone.

I live with my old lady and trust her to no end, but there is no eff'ing way on gods green holy earth that I would let her "own" my car for more than a week.

Thats why she has a beater to.. well beat.

I feel your pain, my wife treats her car like crap. I am always cleaning it just so I feel better when I have to drive it.
Get seat covers, floor mats, cheap stick on door moldings, steel wheels with crap hub caps, and some paint protection film for the front end.
I don't see why any high school kid needs a car that's worth more then $500-1000! Just get her a nice used better, spend as little money as possible making is safe and let her trash it, that's what high school kids do!
Never give your girl your nice car, ever!!!

If it's too much to talk to her (I completely understand) write her an oraganized note for her to read on her own with your concerns (expressed maturely)... and then she can write you something back or you can sit down and discuss together. It sounds childish to write a note but it eliminates both of you from the equation with heated concerns.
