Just test drove a 2007 Focus

Hello,

I just test drove a 2007 Ford Focus 2 door hatchback. I went to the most reputable dealer in the state and they offered the car for $3500. It has just over 150,000 miles and drives really well. It was someones corporate car and had oil changes (via carfax) every 4,000 miles. I almost bought it except for this one thing:

It has this odd shake to it.

It isn't like a rough idle or transmission, or whatever, but it's just this very subtle shake when you're at a stop. It's a really odd feeling I've never felt in a car before. Is this normal on the Focus?

Bad motor mount, probably the lower dog bone one.

Probably a motor mount, I agree. And $3500 is way too much, I agree with that as well! I've taken the best care of my car I can over the years (2001 focus se 4dr) has 161,000 miles on it, and I would not dare ask $3500 for it...that's like sucker punching someone because you know something will "break soon"!

3500 is only a little bit over the value on the Black Book... And I'm seriously about to take them to the cleaners so to speak when I trade them my piece of garbage for 2.5k.

The mount, a stock one is like 20 buck on the BST section of the site. From Ford probably like 80.

I say get them to 2000-2500 and you're good.

So you are advocating getting a dealer below wholesale value? I would love that, but that isn't really reasonable around here at least.

my 06 some times has a vibration when sitting at a light .Look at what you can get for $3500. Now a days. I'd try it for $3500 out the door.

Yeah but 6 years is a huuuge difference. I think 3500 is pretty good. As long as that is fixable theres no reason not to get it. Focus' last long as long as they are tooken care of. My 07 is at almost 95,000 :)
