2004 SVT Scrap Worth?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2004 Focus ZX5 SVT with just under 90K miles that just threw its flywheel through the transmission, and was quoted about $6000 to replace the transmission, clutch, flywheel, and miscellaneous other things that were damaged in the course of that. The car has some moderate scrapes due to accidents, and would need to have its suspension replaced in the next year. I've pretty much decided to scrap the car, since all of those repairs would be well over the value of the car.

What should I be expecting the car to sell for as scrap? I don't want this repair shop to completely screw me, especially since that repair quote seems really high.

Thanks!
TK

Part it out first.

You can get a lot out of even just a good interior and functional parts then scrap it.

The problem is that I have no experience doing that and don't have a great place to store the car in the meantime...

There are plenty of Texas fanatics that could help you along with the parting out process. As well as help you determine prices.

It's honestly your best option. Plus.. there's tons of people here who would love to help your SVT live on by putting it's parts on their car.

Whoa yeah we can definitely help you part it out. How much would you sell the whole car for?

6000 to fix sounds absurdly high IMO. Have you tried getting a different shop to look at it?

^^Yeah but I'm local so...

Heck personally I'd probably throw a 5 speed in it if I couldn't find a 6 speed that is cost effective, but then again I'd be doing it myself.

I'd be happy to sell it to a real person, but it's located in Bastrop (where it broke down), so it would need to be towed. Send me a PM if you're actually interested in buying.
