new here =)

hey there new owner of a 2003 ford focus se sedan (wish it was a st =( ) but anyway my last car (2000 cougar auto with the 2.5 and upper SVT intake and SVT TB and got beat by a 2007 stock zx5 focus lol) well anyway cougar died 2 nights ago and i bought this focus off a family member. the focus only has 38,000 miles on it and no rust or marks or anything very very well taken care of only paid 4500 for it (dont know if that was a good price as the dealer was gonna give 4900 for it for a trade in she said for her new car)

anyways it has the SPI motor in it and its a auto trans.... can these cars get any performance in it? hows the trannys in these? are they any better then the CD4E tranny in the cougar? right now going for a exhaust and a CAI but i dont know if there is any headers for the SPI or FI? or would it be better to just upgrade to the Zetec (wanting to stick to auto tranny)

zetecs are more reliable then spi's so i'd say engine swap would be a good idea

even on a 38,000 mile motor? yea i was just gonna do a exhaust and then a CAI and just save up for the zetec swap (i heard those motors can be had for pretty cheap) do they just bolt right on with the SPI auto tranny? (i dont want stick) how do the auto trannys hold up compared to the CD4E tranny from the cougar/contour?, are these trannys able to keep up with a turbo/supercharger? (CD4E couldent and they never made a turbo for the auto cougar)

also what is a good exhaust kit to add to these cars? was gonna do this next week and then once i have m exhaust and CAI (heard they fit SPI and zetec) was just gonna wait a month or 2 and add the zetec, do we have a walkthrough on the SPI to zetec swap?

we dont really have a walkthrough but i can be alot of help since i did it.

no your motor will not blow at 38k lol like i said it will be about 100k... yes the zetec will bolt up to the auto tranny they are the same and the tranny's are actually pretty dang good. i think hold about 250. with a turbo you will get about 230 out of a zetec.
