Thinking of buying another focus

so found another focus local for 800 obo, main issue is it doesn't run, it's a lx with an spi, valve seat didn't drop but the guy swerved to avoid a deer and ended up on a rock which busted the radiator up and dented the oil pan. he tried to drive it home but the car started to over heat(lack of coolant) and finally stalled out and died. so is it worth buying to fix up and drive? i need something when i pull my zetec to drop in the svt drivetrain. anything i should look for? car has 212,xxx mainly highway miles, he used to commute from maine to pa for a bit over 2 years

I wouldn't buy for 800, IMO especially not an spi.

Yeah same here, I'd stay away from anything with the SPI in it. Too much trouble to swap over everything you need.

What if he fixed the issues it had and sold it for a little more? If the engine doesnt have the dropped valve yet he might be able to almost double his money?

Ide still be leary about those 2 things though. The valve could drop at any time and it now could have a bad head gasket.

I think 212K is the most ive seen on an SPI without the valve issue. most die with half those miles.

Maybe it has been fixed before that guy got it? Would a carfax have an issue like that on it?

i asked if he ever had issues with the valve seat dropping he said he never had any issues with the engine, he isn't firm on the price so he said 800 in his mind seemed kinda high so he is willing to work on a price
