Focus Titanium with Summer Tires , could be trouble

I see a lot of you guys who live in northern states and Canada with the sport suspension and summer tires. I live in NJ and we have had some bad winters here. Am I the only one concerned about the lack of traction you will get with them in snow ? The dealers around here are getting that option on every Titanium they get. I would not want them for that reason, but was wondering if anyone else is thinking about snow.

It would be an issue if they are the only tires you plan to run in the winter but it is a good reason no matter what summer tires you own to buy a second set of winter rims and tires. It allows you to get great summer weather performance with dedicated summer tires and good traction in the winter treaded and even studded tires. Even good all season tires cannot match the grip of winter tread, but most of the year, summer tires will where slower and add noticeable performance handling.

Up here most run snows in the winter when the regular equipment is a summer tire. It's actually law in Quebec.

+1 on the winter tires... they are a great idea even in the midwest where I am... you dont have to use additional rims... but it saves time at the tire shop getting skins swapped in the fall...

I'm definitely getting winter tires for mine. We don't get buried in snow here like the rest of Canada, but plenty of cold rain and enough snow that the summer tires will have to go.

haha, you don't use the 18" summer tires in winter.

I kept the Goodyear Nordic 16" snow tires off my Vibe and I plan on using them on my focus.. just gotta find a set of rims to put them on. But yeah, using the summer tires in winter would be utter suicide :p

I repeat.. do NOT use your 18" summer tires in the winter. You will die.

I am going to sell my 16" SEL setup if anyone is interested, PM me. The all-seasons were unnecessary in Houston.
