Longest you've gone without an oil change?

What's the longest you've gone without changing your oil?
I normally do it every 3-4k miles, but I screwed up big time recently.
I normally will do it myself, and write the milage on a sticker on my window. However, the last time I got it changed was when I had it inspected. For a few bucks more, they said they'd change the oil. It was about that time, so I went for it.

They wrote milage on the sticker, but I didn't look at it until recently. What I thought said "original milage" actually said "change by or milage" (it was mostly written over with marker), showing a date and milage.
When I noticed this, I let out a stream of obscenities. Because I was going by that milage, and I waited a bit longer at that, I'm now at 135,000. The milage they wrote on the sticker is 130,000. Who knows what the original milage was, but it was most likely 127,000. That means I may have gone 8,000 miles on this oil.

Yeah, stream of obscenities. I'm really pissed off at myself for not reading the sticker better months ago. That's what you get when you let someone else do your work for you. I'm hoping I haven't caused any damage to my engine.

Anyway, more to the point, how long have you gone without changing your oil?

the longest my focus has ever gone has been about 4 but i could stretch way farther if i wanted since i use full synthetic. but i had a cutlass 2.5 that had a oilpan leak and not only did i not change it i stopped topping it off eventually and just let her leak so i ran it damn near dry of oil without changing what was there for like 10k and it still ran when the scrappers come got it. (not saying id do that with your focus lol). just get your oil changed very soon and if your worried add a little seafoam to the oil before you drain it to clean up sludge a bit

I use synthetics as well, but to be honest, all I know is they used a synthetic motorcraft oil, so I don't know that I should have trusted it for so long.
I've heard of people actually going 8k miles regularly. I just couldn't do that. Still, my oil dummy light hasn't come on, so that's at least good news.

I'll be changing it this weekend. Only reason I'm waiting is I'm also installing an exhaust this weekend, and I figured I'd do it all at once.

it probably had the motorcraft synthetic blend thats what i used to use i would only go about 4k max on that. but thats normally i dont thinkyouve done any damage by going further just dont make a habit of it. i could be one of those who goes 8k regularly i use valvoline synpower with a mobil 1 filter but i still try and go 4000 or less anyway but im ocd about it lol id rather do it early and keep good clean oil in it

My mom ran her Toyota Tercel for 60k without an oil change. Right up until the pistons fused to the cylinders.

Her reasoning was that if Dad wasn't going to go out there and change it, it wasn't getting changed. LOL

The dealer keeps sending us coupons in the mail for discount oil changes so I'm letting them do it on our new 2011 SES. The book calls for 7500 between changes and the dealer is using a synthetic blend so I'm going by that. Besides they're doing that 27 point inspection on everything else on the car so might as well let them look it over since it's still new and under warranty. Had the first break-in change at 3K and just coming up to 9k on the odometer so a little while left before I take it in. I check the level to make sure it's not using any and so far, even the nitrogen in the tires hasn't lost any pressure.

Both my Vette and PT Cruiser have full synthetic and I go 5K between changes on those. DIY on them.

The focus, ive only had 4k miles so far, but the sable has had 15k/1yr oil changes since 30k and is still going strong at 160k. and my wife's 08 rav4 V6 has had the same annual treatment with 65k miles to no ill-effects. Im using Amsoil signature 0w-20 with amsoil filters on the fords changed annually and the toyota filter changed at every 5k miles/6months.

ive done several used oil analysis and contaminants, TBN, and metals have all been well within ranges.
