My first post/introduction!

Hello everyone! first off, this site is pretty awesome haha. My name is Stephen and I traded my old car in on a 2005 Focus ST. So far, i've put maybe a thousand miles on it so far, and I have to say, i'm very surprised! It is quick, comfortable, easy to drive, etc etc. I was honestly expecting it to be BORING to drive, but it isn't.

Like I said, I traded my old car in on the focus. I used to have a 2002 Mustang GT. I got it in 2007 after i graduated High School, and it was the longest time I owned a car. It was such a fun car, sounded awesome, looked awesome, but it was a hassle. it broke every other week.. It went through clutches like it was going out of style.. tires were expensive....315/35/17s ugh. gas mileage was horrendous. I loved the car but it was just time to cut my ties with it and get something that would actually last. I looked at EVERYTHING. VWs. volvos. cobalts. etc etc. I saw this focus and i was hooked. it looked nice, but I noticed it was also the ST and i knew it had a little more pep to it. I figured while it wasn't a mustang, it wasn't a slouch either, and would be a great replacement. Now, after a week of driving it, I feel i made an awesome decision. I dont really have any mods planned for it. I will be doing something with the exhaust sometime soon (i've got a bassani muffler from when i put my magnaflows on the mustang), and i will definitely be getting dark tint too.. I'm going to be painting the grille mesh black to match the rear bumper. other than that, i'm just going to be driving the crap out of it.

Now its time for some pictures..

The car I traded in:

the focus

I do have another car that i've been messing with on and off for the past couple years.. idk if i'm going to keep it, but i just want to post pics of what else i mess with haha. its a 1990 volvo 740 GL...

Thanks for looking!

-Stephen

I like the Volvo. What have you done to it?

You had a nice Mustang too but you made a good choice with that ST. Any Focus is a great drive. I have had my SVT for over a year and have been thrashing it pretty hard without any issues. They are awesome cars.

Thanks!! The mustang was pretty cool, but it was a nightmare. everything broke.. in the past year, the mustang was in the shop more than it was in my driveway..

The volvo, i haven't done much to it. I got it from a family friend for free about 2 years ago. So far, i've lowered it (cut springs..the ride is AMAZING, believe it or not), and cleaned it haha. I got it right before I went to college, and its at my parents house, so I never have time to work on it. whenever I get the extra cash and time, I want to make it fast. the motor in it has 400k miles, so i want to rebuild it, bigger rods and pistons, put a ported 16 valve head on it, custom exhaust manifold, holset, megasquirt, etc etc..i want to make 500+ hp. thats down the road though..

one more picture i just found...it had blue wheels on it for a little while. I had fun with that, but i didn't prep them well and the paint started chipping..

I'd like to make the focus faster down the road. it seems like it'd be a fun car to make fast. I think i'll do suspension stuff first though.. one question i do have is how can i make this dang shifter not feel like i'm churning butter? i guess i'm spoiled with the mustang's steeda tri-ax shifter, but I'd like to get something to tighten up the throws of the focus's shifter..

Welcome all of you cars are nice. And you bought the best year for the ST. You will have fun in the Focus too. The handle great and are decently fast for what they are. Now slap some boost in there and some coils and you will be beating Mustangs all day.

Welcome, sbarb. You have a clean slate for modding your "new" ST. There is so much you can do with wheels, tires, intake, exhaust, tune, and more. Enjoy!

Welcome to FF. The Mustang is nice, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the increase in MPGs with the ST. ST's are very cool and fun to drive. This is an excellent community and we hope you enjoy your time here.

major increase at that lol. Plus it will be nice to keep it out of the shop every other week. Weird how that is.

welcome.... you have some nice cars there. That volvo with the blue wheels is about as ugly as my car awesome.

thank you!! thats the plan down the road. I can definitely tell that this platform will be awesome with even light mods..

why is this year the best year for the ST? also, what is different between the ST and the other focuses (focii?)?

haha I"m already enjoying the mpg! I have put about a thousand miles on it, and have only had to go to the gas station three times! haha its so awesome. in the mustang, if i wanted to go 1000 miles, i would have to go to the gas station like 6 times haha.
