Good idea?

I found a 2003 Focus SVT, screaming yellow, EAP in a classified ad that a dealership is selling. It has 82k miles on it and looks like its in good shape. I offered him to trade my 06 ST with 72k miles outright and he is strongly considering it. Is this something I would benefit from? I love the SVT, but I dont really know the ins and outs of an SVT like I do with my ST. The only barrier is my Fiancee since she doesnt like the SVT. Should I just keep the ST or trade outright for the SVT?

I'm a huge fan of the 2003 SVT. A low mileage SVT with the EAP is almost a no brainer.

Are you not a fan of the ST, though?

I love my car, and another reason my fiancee doesnt want me to get the SVT is because we dont know how the previous owner took care of it. I babied the heck out of my car with all regularly scheduled maintenance and cleaning etc. But I know nothing about this car. All I can do is run a carfax, and test drive and do an inspection of the vehicle, but that only goes so far.

Just a thought, but on a 2003 with only 82k I'm guesing it wasn't hammerred. I have a 2003 ZX3 with 140k on it and it is running like a champ still.

I think You should go see this thing in person before even considering trading. Look for any cheapo aftermarket stuff, which is usually a sure sign of a younger owner, meaning a higher chance of it having been beat on. I would seriously consider that trade were it a Comp O, but that's just Me. Nothing against the SY, I'm just a picky bastard, lol.

I'd do it.

It's all about the hatchback.

I would feel more comfortable trading with someone on FF or FJ *hint hint* lol But if the oppurtunity comes I may go for it. What do you think the difference in insurance would be? Also, am I stupid for doing this so close to my wedding? Wedding is in 16 days. Should I take the chance and wait a month for after the wedding/honeymoon?

It is better to ask forgiveness than permission.

I'm sure that with two weeks to go until the wedding hse has more important things to worry about than what you drive.

Your gonna miss the torque from the 2.3L

As much as I adore the Screamin Yellow EAP SVT, I would never trade my ST for it. Yes, I've driven SVT's....stock and supercharged.

Hey, are you looking at that supercharged one on eBay?
It's pretty clean but I wouldn't know about the engine as it's supercharged.
