Angry NEW ///M5 gets 30 mpg on open road!

BRAND new M5 with it's V8 twin turbo 560 hp engine gets 28 mpg!!!

on open road it can get AMAZING 30 MPG (7.6 l per 100 km)

WHAT A LIE!!!!!

I can't get 30 mpg with 1.6 100 hp focus. A sedan that has 560 hp V8 and weights 4288 pounds (1945 kg) can!!!!!!!

old M5 could do 23 mpg on open road with it's V10.

I HATE THOSE STUPID LIES!!!! How stupid are people who believe those things!!!!
Diesel 5 series gets 37 mpg, 9 mpg more!!!! diesel with 245 hp and 245 kg less weight can get ONLY 9 MPG more than 560 V8 petrol version

more info about F10 M5 if your intrested

http://www.bmwblog.com/2011/06/15/wo...he-new-bmw-m5/

P.S. - it will cost over (65000 was old M5) 70000 punds in UK, so US price will be around 120000 dollars I guess

US prices will not be $120000. I would be surprised if it is over 100k.

U.S. price will probably be around ~$75,000 cause they need to leave room for the M6 at the $100,000+ price point.

The 2010 M5 started at $85,700 in the US, so I'd expect the new one to be around $90k.

I don't know how you're unable to get 30mpg in a 1.6 Focus, unless you're talking about in-town driving?

If you're buying an M5, you're probably not too concerned about the milage.

If the mileage listed is for the UK you should be aware that an Imperial Gallon is the same as 5 US gallons. So 30 mpg in Imperial is only 24 in US gallons.

Of course, there's a benefit to the larger Imperial gallon... All liquid measures in the UK are 25% larger including your pint of beer. (20 ounces instead of 16 as in the US).

Cheers!

I don't think its a lie, MB and BMW have been using direct injection engines in europe for years to get that kind of mileage outta their cars (the CGI and CDI variants for mercedes). Ford hasn't really used direct injection until the 2012 models (same with mazda). The mazda 2 for instance is supposedly able to get as high as 70mpg.

In the US there haven't been many direct injection models due to the higher sulfur content in our gas which will do damage over time to the engine and destroy any type of NOx catalyst that might be put into the cars. Its only recently that the sulfur levels have gone down enough to try it.

I believe it. The new 5 series gets 32 mpg freeway. It has an 8 speed gearbox. I don't see why they couldn't pull off 30 mpg with M5.
