Yes, there is a complicated ritual involved, but the one press to unlock all doors feature can be turned on.. as the stock set up is one press for driver's door, two for all doors. However, when purchasing a used Ford, you may find the lock operation has already been changed, as this is popular with many people.

Complicated ritual?

All you do is hold lock + unlock for 3 seconds. Horn chirps to confirm the change is made.

That is, from what I recall.

You could be right, I may be thinking of the old belt minder shut off procedure, or something else, it has been at least a decade since I had to do any of those.

LOL.
I figured it was a 2012 question ... hoped it wasn't though.

Does the owners manual say anything about it?

Found this on page 159:

Quote:
Autounlock feature

When autounlock is activated, all doors will unlock when the driver door
is opened.

Deactivating/activating autolock/autounlock

There are two methods to enable/disable these features:

• Through your authorized dealer
• By using a power door lock procedure
Note: The autounlock feature can be activated/deactivated
independently of the autolock feature.

Power door lock procedure

To enable/disable these features, do the following:
You will have 30 seconds to complete the procedure.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Press the power door lock button three times.
3. Turn the ignition off.
4. Press the power door lock button three times.
5. Turn the ignition on (you will hear a chime indicating the
programming mode has been entered).

Autolock: Once in programming mode, each subsequent short press
(less than 1 second) of the power door lock button will toggle autolock
between on and off.

Autounlock: Each subsequent long press (more than 2 seconds) of the
power door lock button will toggle autounlock between on and off.

Now I don't know if that applies to using the remote also or not. I kinda think it does though.

The reason that the fob works like that is safety. So it won't unlock all the doors and some one can open the passager side and mug or car jack you.Its a pain but thats why they do it for safety.
