04 SE 2.3, 03 zx5 2.3, 01 zx3 2.0, 05 st - help me choose!

So after years of not owning a Focus I am in need of a car that gets a minimum of 30mpg hwy for commuting around 100 miles 5 days a week to school and back starting in August. What better excuse is there to get back in a Focus?

So I have been searching around and aside from some of the awesome cars for sale on here, I have found the following and would like some feedback on these models, all being different. All are 5 speeds and stock at dealerships.

You will notice the SVTs did not make the list. I miss my SVTF, but they take premium and usually sell at higher prices. I would like to nab a 2.3 powered car, which most of these are.

2004 2.3 SE with 79k-$7400!! at a local ford dealer, this is way over priced, but closer to me than the zx5 and st. I am sure they would come down if i haggle them. I figure if i am going to get a sedan, it might as well be the ST below!

2003 zx5 2.3 with 85k-$5000 this one is nicely optioned and aside from the st, my favorite. Its a 3.5 hour drive but priced low enough to be worth it. Pics look great and I miss my ZX5!

2001 zx3 2.0 with 144k-$3400 by far cheapest of the group. I drove it and it seemed sound, but I would really like to get a 2.3.

2005 ST with 94k-$6000 at the same dealership as the 2.3 zx5 3.5 hours away, there are no pics on the site yet. it does say clean carfax, one owner vehicle and is one of the cheapest focus st out there. I drove an ST 2 years ago and loved it!

So, bring it guys! What would you get. Keep in mind, although mpgs are important, fun factor and ability to haul the family around in come into play just as much! I cant wait to get a focus again!

Is that ZX5 at the Autobarn in Evanston IL? I've seen that one online for a few months now, I'm really tempted to drive down there from Milwaukee if they still have it this summer. Its just a bit out of my comfortable price range though...

But it is a near perfect match for what I want: 5 speed 2.3L ZX5, good color, nice options, and Audiophile system to boot!

I'd say go drive it and buy it if its nice :) Then I don't have to contemplate getting it anymore!

Do it! I'm really surprised they've dropped the price so low. Hope there's nothing ominous about that... I've also heard that that place likes to charge "pre-inspection" fees and other nonsense fees, so low online price tag might just be an incentive to get buyers interested.

Still a good deal though! And if you don't get it, I might have to!

Get the ST. I have one, would not even consider a 2.0 now. Such a fun car.

I'd go with the ST just for the improved suspension parts.

Go for the Zx5 with the 2.3. Its rare to have a hatch with the 2.3 as long as its a manual.
