mtx-75

04 ZX-3 with a 2.3 5sp, it kinda crunches when accelerating hard and shifting into 3rd gear, every other gear is smooth as silk, wondering if this is just an adjustment problem?

kinda have the same issue. band new fluid. but my shift cable just completely snapped on me, so that could be causing my problem. ill find out when i put new cables in. but you could check the cable alignment and for damage.

isnt this a somewhat 'common' problem with the mtx-75? myself included, plenty of guys on here have mentioned a grinding sound while shifting hard into 3rd. there was even some malarky about shortening the shifter to solve the problem.

my 00 doesnt grind at all the tranny in my 04 does. but the 04 was grinding at any rpm/any load. then my shift cable snapped and i lost 2-4-R completely and had to really fight with it to get 1st and 5th. usually just skip 3rd thinking the grinding was the synchro about to die and lock me out of that gear. i thought i got screwed on a used tranny but only drove it 100km and the cable snapped it could have been the cable causing it. we will see.

has anyone ever had the synchro completely take a shit on them? like lock them out of the gear pretty much? or is it just a horrid sound?
