Help with wheel size

Hi,

I have a 2006 Focus Zetec and I am interested in buying some 18" st alloys for it. It currently has 16" alloys. Has anyone done this? I believe they will fit as they are both 5 stud but am slightly confused about offset and width. I have done some research and think that with 225/40/18 tyres there should be no problems but any help would be much appreciated. The wheels i am looking at are the MK2 ST 18JX18.

Alternatively there are the MK2 RS alloys which are cheaper but different size wise. They are "7.5J x 18"

If anyone could help me I would be very grateful as I don't want to buy them only to find they don't fit or rub etc..

Thankyou

Stu

if you put 18 your gonna have a very stiff ride and possible wheel bend and its going to throw off speedometer i would go with 17 215 45 50 like svt that will not mess your speedo and dont forget 18 will make you take longer to stop the car and wear your brakes faster

Thanks for the reply.. I am not concerned about having a stiffer ride as the roads round here are pretty good. And I used a conversion thing and the overall diameter will only be a 5mm increase, so I am not worried about my speedo going off too much. My main concern is if they will fit or not. Any ideas??

You should check out the Wheels, Tires, and Suspension Chat section of this site. The Read-First thread at the top of the section has links to all kinds of information that will tell you what you want. 18x7.5's definitely fit the Focus, though, as long as the offset isn't too crazy.

Guys, keep in mind the focus he's speaking of. His car is a Mk2 focus and he's in the UK so the wheels he's looking for are 5x108, not 4x108.

I would imagine that the wheels off of the ST should work for you fine as I would imagine it has been done before.

I would try to check with any local guys to see what options they've gone with so that you can find the specs that work best for that body style.

Thanks for the replies. Yes it is a mk2. I have seen mk1's with st alloys but just wanted some confirmation that they would fit the mk2! I am pretty sure they will fit, was just wondering if anyone on here had actually done it so they could let me know how it went. I read somewhere that if you were to fit rs alloys then you would need wider arches as they stick out more. Can't really be bothered doing anything like that. Looking for a straight swap :)
