What should I offer on this 2011 Focus

I'm looking at a 2011 Focus SE 4dr sedan with automatic transmission, and SYNC. The sticker price is $19,300.00 I feel the dealer can come off sticker price $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 without batting an eye. Plus since the 2012 is out, it is now considered a left over. I would think that should knock off another $1000.00. The dealer says the best he can do is $18,300.00 with the 0% financing and $15,300.00 with the rebate. So basically he is only willing to budget $1,000.00 off sticker. What do you think is a fair price. I think $16,800.00 to $17,300.00 would be fair.

You can go online and find "dealer inoice" if you know what's on it. There isn't 3,000 markup on this car. Find out dealer "invoice" (which isn't really his net cost) but a good place to start. If you can get it for dealer invoice, you did ok. Less than that, you're cutting into his retention. depends on how hungry he is. Go to the library and check Consumers Reports. They'll walk you through getting the best price, or at least knowing it

good luck

If you want a 2011, get it while you can. fleets and other conusmers buy Foci in the dozens and dealers are looking for them. if you try and play a game, you may loose out

just tell him you want his best offer and go from there.

try emailing another dealership that has the same car and see their price.

i am a ford dealer employee. i got my $21,000 SES for $18k only with the rebates last summer and my employee discount. the rebates are dwindling and they might not be able to help you soon

Posted via FF Mobile Wait, how much is the car after all is said and done? 15, or 18k? If ts 15 I think thats a decent deal. If its 18...way too much, forget it, you might as well order a 2012 SE focus.

My girlfriend got her '09 Sedan SES w/EAP's, Sync, Mood lighting, power everything for a little over $17k. So yeah, they can come down.

Edit: And this was at the end of 2009.

Sticker on the car is 19300.00 the dealer will only come off sticker $1,000.00 so that makes the car 18,300.00.

Ford is offering 2 different incentives in my area, a $3000.00 rebate and 1.9% interest on the loan, or 0% interest for up to 60 months.

If I go with the 0% interest the dealer will only come off the sticker price $1,000.00 so the car would be 18,300.

If I go with the rebate the car is still 18,300.00 but I give them the rebate which brings it down to 15,300 and I would be paying 1.9% interest on the loan.

I want to go with the 0% and leave my money in the bank so it can at least earn a little interest.

I checked consumer reports they say I should offer them 17,823.

I think that is still to high because the 2012 focus is out, making this 2011 a year old car. I think they should knock off another $1,000.00

I think 16,800 would be fair for both myself and the dealer.

You can go to a site like edmunds.com and look up the invoice price with the options on the car, it even shows the incentives being offered.
I bought my 2011 SE sedan a few weeks ago for 4300 off sticker, it had 3000 in cash incentives and the markup between invoice and sticker was 1300. In round numbers; I offered them $15,400 and it was immediately accepted. Sticker was $19,700. At the time there were about 20 2011 foci on the lot, so I had a great selection and got exactly what I wanted (color, options).
It is a nice car. SE with auto, cruise, and appearance package.
