SYNC Problem - HELP!

Just picked up my 2011 SES, the dealer helped me SYNC my phone in the lot, everything worked fine until I plugged in my Ipod and now nothing works. The buttons on the steering wheel do nothing, the dash button does nothing, the SYNC voice doesn't come on.......nothing. Checked the fuse under the dash, that is ok, pulled it out for a few minutes, reinstalled it, nothing.

Brand new car, no SYNC.

Help!

Check the car manual and look for how to perform the master reset on the system.

Just checked the manual - in order to do a master reset you have to access the system on SYNC - the system doesn't turn on when you press the buttons - nothing works so I can't reset it. I have removed the fuse and replaced it while the car was running, as well as when the car was off. Nothing.

Still stuck . . .

I was a part time service advisor assistant until recently at a local ford dealership and the sync systems are by far the worst thing ford has ever come out with. The idea is great but the programming sucks they always drop calls/devices and just never seem to wanna comply with anything. First check syncmyride.com to make sure all your devices are on the list as compatible with your car, i'd say 90% of the time this was the issue. Secondly i know before i left they had a recall on the sync systems for certain lincoln and ford vehicles including the focus to re flash the OS but could sometimes take up to a day and ford was not authorizing rentals for it, plus the recall is vin specific. Otherwise if it is neither of those two odds are its something with the radio and will be covered under warranty.

Took the car to the dealer yesterday, in about 10 minutes they had the SYNC system working again. Seems the older Ipod my daughter uses tripped the system. They had 2 newer Ipods and plugged them in and it worked fine, my daughters was plugged in and ZAP it stopped working again. Must be a software conflict with the old Ipods - wonder why they don't put a 'reboot' button on the SYNC system, would save a lot of dealer time messing around with these systems if the consumer could just reset the things. Anyway, happy owner here, SYNC works fine . . .
