Interesting Feature or just annoying?

Not that it matters, as we don't get this here in North America, but check out some of the options you can get on the European Focus.

Sign Recognition
YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Driver Alert and Lane Departure Warning (video is a Mondeo, but it is available on the Focus as well).
YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Auto High Beam Control
YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

But remember, they aren't getting the MFT until later (if ever).

There are more features too, but I just thought these were interesting.

Yeah there is a whole video about the cool features available on the Euro model. The sign recognition/auto-hibeam would be cool but the lane departure would be just annoying...

so, a car that knows what the speed limit is? I think that could very quickly turn into a new way to control us, as in the camer reads 60 km/h, and the computer limits the speed to 60 km/h. Not cool with me.

Lol I know a lot of GPS units that have that feature, well not the ability to control the car but you know what I mean.

If you are distracted/ tired enough to need a lane departure warning you ought not be driving.

I'm happy with the NA model. I feel the same way about cars as I do computers. I'd like to do most of the thinking when I'm driving, until I'm well into my 80s. Most of the Euro features are a response to the insanely strict driving regulations they have over there across the pond.

I think we've got the better deal...only if we could get the RS over here...

No thanks, I'll pass. I like to use my eyes and have full control over everything. I don't have situational awareness issues. Might be helpful for the elderly and people with certain medical conditions though.

Just makes driving easier for dumb people who shouldn't be behind the wheel in the first place.
