Some Observations From Detroit

First off, if you are in Metro-Detroit, Tom Holzer Ford in Novi (10 Mile and Haggerty) has 2 units until 7pm tonight. A Blue Candy SE and a Red Candy Titanium, both 5dr.

I noticed that the Titaniums hatch floor is about a inch higher then the one in the SE. This is to make room to clear the subwoofer amp which is back there.

To use the fold flat seats, you have to give up quite a bit of front leg room (you have to move the seats pretty far up). You can move them back a little once the rear is folded flat, but you still loose a lot of leg space.

Speaking of leg room - there is a huge amount of available leg room for the front seats.

The lower center console (shifter area) is significantly different between the SE and the Titanium. The Titaniums is quite a bit wider, with 2 cup holders side by side and the hand brake comes up 'above' the console. The SE's is narrower, with the cup holders in line, and one is smaller then the other. The hand brake is tucked next to it.

Somebody said they felt more cramped in the Titanium because of it - but I felt fine in both. It looks like the SEL and Titanium have the 'wide' one, and the S and SE have the 'narrow' one.

Both vehicles had grille shutters. One was a preprod car it looked like, the SE had a window sticker for a dealer in St Louis.

Thanks for the update emerrill, wish I would have read this a bit earlier since I really need to check out a Titanium in person. Nice confirmation on the grill shutters. I can't wait to get into the titanium that I ordered in Feb (still no confirmation on when). I had the opportunity to sit in the SE Sport and was impressed with the fabric quality.

We were told by Ford the Titanium hatch floor is raised to accommodate the full size spare that comes in the "Handling Package" option.
" Titanium Handling Package features - optimized suspension components, special 18-inch alloy wheels, lowprofile summer performance tires and a trunk-mounted full-size spare.

Re the rear folded seats, were the head restraints removed 1st before folding the seat backs forward?

True - but if that were the case, they could have put the higher floor just in the cars with handling package. But then they would have nowhere to put the sub amp (unless they put is somewhere completely different.

I'm sure if it weren't for the full sized spare they wouldn't have lifted the floor - they would have put the amp elsewhere, but because they did arrange it that way, the amp is now a limiting factor.
