Ford Focus Based Lincoln

Hey,

Wasn't sure where to post this but I had read that Lincoln will undertake what was Mercury's role in basing a new C-Segment car off of the new 12' Focus.

In the spirit of boredom, I was curious to see what that may look like.

So naturally I dashed to the Photoshop and here's the result:

Compared to:

I know parts of it are rough but I don't do this often. =P

Again if this is posted in the wrong area or I have violated any rules by all means move/remove this post.

Thanks :)

Interesting idea on the shop. BUT I hope for lincolns sake they do NOT try filling some of Mercury's shoes. Mercury died because they had no vehicles of their own. They were just Fords with waterfall emblems for the longest time, then they got SOME upperclass additions. But that's not enough to jusitfy the entire make of the car even being existant.

If Lincoln wants to make a similar vehicle to the Focus, I hope they do their own small car and not just your photoshop. In other words putting a Lincoln grill with everything focus behind it and paying another 5k for the emblem)

Sidenote: My grandparents have a Lincoln MKX and a Ford Edge leased right now. They are the exact same car imo. Just Lincoln has LED tails (iirc), HID's that turn with the steering wheel, and a more refined dash with larger touch senstive buttons. Do NOT see why people would want to spend that extra 8k for the Lincoln just for the name and few bells and whistles.

I just don't want to see Lincoln go under. Atleast the MKT, MKS/Z are on their own as far as style.

I agree with you. I'd love to see some more original Lincolns. It reminds me of the crazy situation with Dodge, and how Lancia now has the 300C AND Caravan almost exactly as they were. Doesn't sound like a recovering company to me.

Back on the Edge note. I'd take an Edge over the Lincoln any day. It's cheaper and I prefer the grill.

I'd love the the Edge with the self moving headlights. That's actually a much nicer feature than you would imagine. Going around a long corner at 70 with those headlights, you see just as if you were going straight. As apposed to the blind darkness just off the the left until it comes into the headlights.

I think I see about 10 Edge's to every 1 MKX.

Also, I can't see Lincoln jumping into the C class gas sipping segment. Their market has bigger wallets. Read, less concern for mpg. The 22/28 (or whateveR) on a midsize/fullsize is just as appealing to the 28/38(40) that is the Focus to us smaller wallets.

PS. I liked Mercury. But they just were horribly water down and the different style of their vehicles weren't enough. Milan was so UGLY in its last years!

I see the titanium edition Focus as the "luxury" variant already.

Honestly, I think any buyers who wanted a "luxury c-segment car" from Ford, could get everything they could possibly want from that Focus trim level, so there's no point in a whole other car from Lincoln.

That pic is probably how Lincoln would make a new car based off the Focus though (for better or worse), so well done homie!

meh...i personally dont wanna see another FWD Lincoln. only the Navigator and Town Car (questionable) remain for RWD vehicles from Lincoln. some of the new stuff is good like the EcoBoost MKS and MKT, also the MKZ but i honestly do miss the Lincoln LS. after 2006 i wish they would have put the LS on a major overhaul for the 2007 model year.... ~sigh~.

about a month or 2 ago i read that Lincoln had planned to better differentiate their vehicles from their Ford counterparts. like no longer sharing the same body panels, lights, ect. my guess is that their doing something like what they have on the Flex/MKT. that i do like.
