'08-'11: why?

Why did you buy your focus? I think this is a legitimate question, especially since this model got mixed reviews.

I'll start....celica GT (RIP) that was literally falling apart after 250k miles. When it got down to price and financing, my choice was between this and a Mazda3 s. Mazda is much faster and handles better, however it was a little too pricey, a little short on features, and too cramped inside.

I never considered this focus, my sister bought a focus S a year ago with nothing, not even power windows, and to be honest I thought it was awkward and extremely cheap inside. A Ford engineer in the family, as well as the fresh product line ford has been churning out, brought me into a ford dealer. Somehow, I flipped, and I think the SES is real sharp outside. The big, airy open cabin, as well as all black interior hooked me. SYNC alone made this car worthwhile. Let me put out there that the back seat is HUGE, and legroom in the back is insane. I wish I was driven around so i could sit back there more haha

this car is SLOW however, and I am stuck with the (surprisingly smooth) ancient 4speed auto because there wasn't a single manual on the east coast with leather/sunroof/audio packages left. I really wanted to hold out until the '12, but i needed something ASAP and the new ones are too expensive for me. by the time i ring up a '12 SE sedan with actual rims, sync, and cruise control, lookin at like 22 grand after taxes/tags. plus I got 0% interest, something i couldnt get on a brand new. As for the cheap interior, my friends actually like it, especially the ambient lighting.

I am looking into covering the door panels, handles, and possibly dash in some kind of micro-suede and leather combination with foam underneath for soft texture. Already started measuring fabric, so hopefully Ill get around to doing this sooner than later

never thought i would get this model focus, but its really growing on me now. just need some more power! theres ma story please respond yall, this is not ususally people's top choice for a car in this segment being that performance is mediocre and its pretty stark inside

Nice man

At first I didnt like the newer models either but they have grown on me.

Also maybe look into some suspension mods and FSWerks intake/exhaust and I think you'll find the Focus to be quite fun.

haha i think ive raped that website scrounging for stuff to blow my money on. Lookin at the intake and exhaust, but i feel like they are kinda worthless other than noise. I know it wont make any kind of turbo-like improvement, but is it at all noticeable in the drive, other than sounding badass? I know this question has been asked a THOUSAND times haha

the mods are gunna move this because its in the wrong section... but i bought mine because ii test drove everything in its class and the value was there, it had a great ride/handling, reliability scores were lookin good, great trunk space, it was small (everything in the US is too damn bloated imho) decent power, great MPG... what wasnt to like about it. so on 11/19/2008 (my birthday) i bought it

^^ NO! the chrome is evil and im about 90% done with removing it. i have kinda grown attached to the fender vents in chrome form but they are starting to chip and peel, so theyll be painted black and ill be 100% in compliance :D
