Question Anyone own a 03 Chevy Impala 3.4l V6?

Hey guys just wanted to try and see if anyone here knows this motor and could help me with something. The car is a 03 Chevy impala with the 3.4l v6.

Just last night the low oil pressure warning light came on, but only for a few seconds and then went off again, now pops said he just put oil in there, but the car is due for a oil change, so what could be the problem here? I really don't see any oil leaks, could the oil pump be going bad? This car only has 65k on it.

Thanks guys, sorry if I should have posted this elsewhere, but the Chevy Forums suck, nobody is ever on them.

A lot of the those Impalas have an oil change monitor system. Light comes on at 3-3500 mile interval. Had to be reset when you do a change. If that's not it, then you probably have a bad sending unit.

I have an 05. That has never happened to me tho.

A bunch of fords will have low oil psi till you give them gas. My old cougar would have low oil at every single stop.

Like mikebontoft said.

When did or how did your light come on and off?

x2, I've had an 02 around for about six years. Always does this. If you're confident in your change and you notice nothing out of the ordinary, reset the system and be on your way.

I get what they were trying to do with the system (make it idiot proof for old timers who change religiously at 3K for no reason), but it's more of an annoyance than a help.

I got it guys thanks, it is the oil pressure switch it's self, it was pissing oil out, but not through the threads, out where plug meets the switch. And that explains why the light was coming on, I was just driving normal at around 40mph and it would come on.

Yea we just went to napa and got one for about 11 bucks, quick fix, but dam did you know the size of that thing is 1 1/16 of a inch socket. I had to buy one while I was out, I had a inch socket but not a 1 1/16.
