Smile Ford focus headlights help

ok so i am going to make myself sound very stupid here but i can't make the headlights on my T reg ford focus work properly!!
basically there is a dial that you twist... 1 turn is for side lights... 2 turns is for full beams and then you pull the dial out for the front and then back fog lights...
so how do i just get the normal headlights??
basically i'm driving around either with basically no lights or blinding people!!
any help would be greatly appreciated!!
thanks in advance!

Are you talking about high beams/low beams on your headlights? Is your dimmer switch working?(you know, the stalk opposite the turn signal stalk, at least in the US) Also, do you have "city" lights as on the continent and in Japan? Owner's manual?

Pull your turn signal lever back towards you and that will turn off your high beams. If you want them on high beam just pull the lever back again.
