History of the Focus?

For those who know the whole history, fill in where I am missing. Here is what I know.

The Ford Focus is a captive import designed in Europe and sold internationally. The states unfortunately don't get any of the cool models like the RS and classic ST. The Focus started manufacturing in 1998, and has been a solid car, besides the 2 recalls in 2001. Rumors have it that time travelers from the renaisance times had come to our time, stolen a dozen Focuses, then used them to battle against dragons with the hidden vaporizer. (The wire to this can be found deep in the dash)

Correct me if I'm wrong, too. :)

Posted via FF Mobile Lol...besides that last bit Ill fill some stuff in....but there is a historic description on the site somewhere if you do a search. 1998 was the first year of the fous. Then it arrived in the States for the 2000 model year and was the same as the euro version, except a few US regulation changes and
much much less options. Yes its a solid car, but there were certainly more recalls then two. In 2000 the fous was plagued with recalls, but had less and less as the years went on. In 2002 came the SVT, pretty much the ST170 that also came out in Europe. We didnt get the RS though. In 2005 when the rest of the world got a new model, the US recieved a minor facelift to the exterior and the interior. We also got new engines that were slightly better then the previous, but there was no significant power increase. We also got an ST, but it was nothing like the one europe got. The one we got had a slightly tuned version of the 2.3l from 2003.5-2004 that was offered in clean emissions states. Suspension was tuned a bit stiffer but thats about it. That facelift continued on till 2008, when we recieved yet again another facelift, but this was a major one. The car looked significantly different with many of the panels being changed. The interior was totally redone as well. Power was increased a bit but again, not substantially. The car was more solid then previous years, but that could be expected from a 10 year old platform and tech.

Now for 2012 we are getting the same focus as the rest of the world in their "One Ford" stradegy....bout time. And the new one is ridiculously good, not just the best focus ever, or possibly one of the best cars ever made, but the best compact car money can buy now....well, in a few months.

It's not a captive import, that would be if it was imported from overseas. But they have been made in Michigan since 1999, and some from Mexico.

A captive import would be the old Mitsubishi made Dodge Colts, or Eagle Summits.

So did anyone check out the FF link? I thought it covered pretty much anything you would need to know.
