Build Vaguery: Seats

So as I configure my eagerly-awaited 2012 Ford Focus I have to decide what level of trim I want on the Titanium Focus. Effectively, I have decided that making the Focus a >25k car is ridiculous. Thus, I will likely be opting out of the 401A package. This is where it gets a little hairy -- Let me illustrate it for you with screenshots:

Take a look at this:

Description on build website:

"Available leather-trimmed sport bucket seats add a touch of flare to the Titanium model."

The second option is the leather-trimmed sport seats. A google search leads to this photo:

These aren't the 401A seats and they're not the sport-cloth. They look very nice and sporty vs. the standard cloth-only seats and it appears that they require no additional cost.

I think that they are probably an iteration from these early photos:

Any thoughts?

I dropped by a dealer tonight to talk to them about the '12. Unfortunately the salesman I spoke to knew nothing about the car. He had no idea it was coming out soon. So he took my info and someone else will be getting back to me. I gave him the specs and said I was interested in these seats if it's a no-cost option. So hopefully by Monday I'll have the opportunity to speak to someone that knows something about the car.

Wow. You've gotta love that. When the salesman knows nothing of the next big thing about to come out from Ford within months. Amazing.

Yeah, considering all the positive press this car has been getting, you'd think they'd be aware of it. This guy was caught completely off guard by me asking about the 2012. Last week I went to a different dealership and I ended up talking to a new salesman, and he knew nothing, but at least his sales manager knew about it.

Well I went to another dealership tonight and spoke to someone who actually had a clue. We went through the process of ordering, and he printed out all the information he had. It looks like the leather trimmed seats are part of the 401a package and that's the only way to get them. We could not find an order code for just the seats.

I don't buy it. Unless the standard sport cloth seats have the leather inserts, there is a whole host of photos out there that suggest there is an additional seat option. I don't trust the dealers...they want to upgrade you.

I'm going to call fomoco.

Well Kuru11, first I don't buy that such seats will actually be a no-cost option. Second, they didn't offer any other options for seats, and didn't try to push me into anything else. I ordered a Titanium 5-door with the machined and polished wheels. They did price the 401A, but I turned it down. If there had been other options not on the price sheet I was initially shown, then they should have mentioned them at some point. So Ford has dropped the ball at getting this info out if there are other options to purchase.

Well with the changes Ford made to the website today it is now apparent that you have to get 401A to get the leather trimmed seats.
