New used car time :/

So its time to retire my focus, only because of the fact that I hydrolocked the engine, the tranny is about to go (Mother[:)*er before me never changed the tranny fluid in ~90k miles) got her to 120k miles and she was starting to die then one day at work it flooded and my car suddenly thought she was a submarine :/

I am now looking for a nice little fast car. Toyota Celica GTS, Subaru WRX... ect.

Something that I can buy used for around 6 grand or under, is what I am looking for... Can you guys recommend anything to me heh.

Side note: My focus right now needs -- New engine, New tranny, New brakes front//rear, new fuel pump, and when some one tried to break in they managed to rip the inside of my passenger door apart so a new door :/... So itll cost alil bit to much to fix it up

SOrry to hear about the focus. Well a WRX under 6? good luck, will be pretty high miles for sure. As a lot of people will do including me is suggest an SVT focus. Especially since you listed a Celica GTS. SVT is just as fast. You can get a good one for around 6 too.
Good luck with what ever you do get!

x2 on Jiblxa you can find a nice svt for around 6 most likely and the motor can take abuse so higher mileage shouldnt be a huge concern.

They were pretty decent, if you could get past the looks. They handled good, revved to 8,000 rpm, and had a decent chassis. The problem with them is they were ugly, cramped, and not geared properly (<-- the typical Toyota plague for VVTL-i engined cars).

OP, I would look at an SVT Focus. Why?

1. You can get a low-mileage one in your price range.
2. They get pretty decent gas mileage when youre not romping on them.
3. The chassis is eons better than the Celica or WRX.
4. If optioned, the sound system blows away anything in its price/class.
5. The brakes are better.
6. You get a 6-speed Getrag, aluminum pedals, HIDs (if optioned), stainless steel exhaust, 17" wheels, two-tone leather/cloth seats, etc. You dont get that cool crap on the GT-S or base WRX.

Cons of the SVT:

1. Premium fuel only
2. Little quirks (ie leaky t-stat housing o-ring, IMRC faults, etc)
3. In 3 door trim, getting in and out of the back seat can be annoying.

@DJzx3, I would love to fix my current car and do a MTX swap but I just would rather buy a car right now for 6000~ only because I just started my second semester of college (18 units) and am working two jobs :/
I simply dont have the time to do all this... and it was my DD :(
Taking it to a shop, they would kill me with the price as well..
