so what has been done?.. the resistor, why not just make the rans run at all times if its that big of a problem?...did you ever check and see if the thermostat was installed correctly at all?

Yea, if it hasn't been checked, get the thermostat looked at... my car needed one recently (not Focus) and it was an easy fix.

Hey buddy... keep bringing it to the dealer. Don't wrench on it yourself!! THEY need to check the T-stat. They also need to check the cooling system. Does it ever over heat on the hiway? Or just in town? If it over heats on the hiway, then it isn't a fan problem. I don't suppose there is another Ford dealer there, is there? Have they put the thing on the code reader? It could even be the computer messing up, not the cooling system. Put a bug in there ear about things like that. They have to look at the big picture and think out side the box.

Conditions for overhating...
1. When the car is idle for 10 - 15 minues...
2. If its raining and the car is moving slowly on traffic....(had happend 2 times)

the funny thing is that i have never see a CEL when the car is hot....

i have used 2 ford dealers already...with little or no improvement...
the first time the overheating started as before the "fix" like 2 month later....
the second time a differet dealer changed more stuff and its actually better than the first time....BUT the car is still overheating from time to time...

i think i will try a third dealer soon...i hope this time they finally fix whats wrong with the car....

thanks...

Joel

I believe I am experiencing this same problem. Fluid levels are AOK. Oil is pretty new. My temp and oil temp guages have been going into the red when I am in stop-and-go, then go down afer about a minute of driving fast. My fans kick in sometimes, but I cannot tell how frequently. hmmm

My SVT had the same problem. Sit in it or driving slowly it would begin to overheat after 15 minutes. Driving on the freeway I had no issues. Took it into the dealer and they ended up replacing the entire fan unit. Problem solved and the fans are much much quieter now.

Mine just started overheating suddenly yesterday. Temp would be fine, then when the fan kicked it, it would jump past red. Apparently the coolant had a lot of air pockets in it, and no leaks, and fluid was full. After about three hours of them telling me it's not the thermostat, they come back saying it's probably the thermostat and they don't have any in stock. Now I have to limp around in my car until monday. Better now than half way to Arizona I guess. And with the dealers, I find that if you give them enough of a hassle, they'll damn near GIVE you the replacements. I got brand new rotors, calipers and pads from them after enough complaining about the squeal for about 4 months.
