Is it legal now for the police to hide during speed traps?

I always thought it was not legal for them to hide?

Ive seen them hide on over passes where you just see part of the top of their car shooting down a highway out the window, jump on the onramp and speedup to the speeder.

Ive seen them stop 2/3 of the way up an onramp and shoot people passing the onramp, hidden behind trees on motorcycles, also hidden behind the pillars holding the overpass up.

Have the laws changed? because i dont remember them doing this in the past.

Ive also seen them hide behind those big road closed signs and shoot between the wood color bars.

In my area we had a 4 lane highway that went from 4 lanes down to 2 lanes. They had 2 big road ends merge left signs where the road went down to 2 lanes they hid behind those in the car out the window and shot threw the spaces of the wood.

I havnt had a speeding ticket in about 12 years but when i see it, it seems so wrong.

Where have you been, all cops hide where I live, hence why you get a good radar detector.

I must of been living under a rock. I havnt had a radar detector since the late 80s. I figure whats the point when they can just trigger each car.

Yeah, they hide here too since as long as I can remember.

That's why I don't speed...

..Ok, I lie. I speed all the time. I just don't get caught.

Gives you a fair warning, remember there are other cars on the road other than you so they are triggering those cars as well so a good radar detector would be able to pick that up in enough time to give you a fair warning. And I mean a GOOD radar detector like a Valetine or Escort. NOT brands like Cobra, Bulldog, and other brands found at Walmart and Pepboys as those units are typically junk in my opinion.

Or you could just take your time, plan ahead, and not speed?

Yea man, dont speed! Everyone drives that 55mph speed limit! I got a turbo just to hear the cool whoosh sound as I drive the speed limit Not sure where these people live but out here in SoCal, you will get run off the road trying to do the speed limit on the freeway. Everyone does 15-20mph over anyways so I never worry.

Exactly.

in my neck of the woods, only the State Police are allowed to have Radar. So what do the loacl cops do, they pay a state cop to sit on the side of the road hidden and tag cars. He has a radio hooked up with the local cops and tells them which cars to pull over based on the radar.
