What's it worth?

As much as I hate to do it, I'm planning to sell my car. Tired of putting money into it- not mod money, but keep-it-running money.

I'm moving to a Toyota Solara by the spring, one I get my finances in order at least.

Realistically what could I ask for my car?

Lowdown-

03 ZTS, all options but heated leather and audiophile
117K
Had clutch master cyl replaced earlier today, timing belt/tentioner/idler/water pump at 113K (belt did not break, I did it as a preventative measure)
Excellent state of tune, all synthetic fluids, runs great
Interior and exterior clean, wear and tear consistent with age and mileage, leather is in excellent shape and the paint holds a deep shine
What it needs: Just the torque mount (have CFM piece, never got around to having it installed) and front struts (Monroe Sensatrac quick-change, mounts are bad).

Have receipts for all parts/work performed.

Car passed inspection through 2011 earlier today.

I don't think $3000 is out of the question.

Thoughts?

You might be able to squeeze 4,000 out of it. I would suggest replacing those things that need replacing. Then you can say "It needs nothing.

Replacing the torque mount will require lowering the front subframe, the castle nut at the subframe is rusted solid and everything turns without loosening (the rubber in the mount, etc).

Struts- I have a lifetime warranty BUT I bought them through rockauto. Kept the paperwork but I don't know if the warranty can be honored through an online purchase.

Looks like I can get a fair price for the car, better than I was thinking.

Simple- Toyotas have been in my family since I was an infant. In fact, my dad brought me home from the hospital in a '77 Celica (1983). I've had two Camrys, only problem between BOTH of them was a bad battery.

Tired of all the Ford headaches, going back to what I know. (I've also had a T-bird Turbo Coupe, two Grand Marquis, a Mustang GT, and a Mark VIII). Also, I've never been a compact car guy, so this was an experiment/detour for me to begin with.

Had a lengthy test-drive in an '06 Solara SLE the other day and came away very impressed. The Camry coupe won me over; it will be my next automotive frontier. With the I4 fuel mileage will be within 2-3 mpg of the Focus (24ish vs. 27 in the Focus) Icing on the cake is that I have family who works for Toyota.

The struts I would leave alone, but the lower torque mount ... I haven't heard of any one who drops the subframe to change it out.

I've down the lower torque mount (dogbone) on an SVT and a ZX3 without dropping the lowersubframe. You just need to jack up the Car a bit to do it.

Here's a link from the "How-To" section of the site - > "How To" - VF Engineering Rear Mount-Install Pics

Good luck with your car. My roommate was able to sell his 01 SPI Sedan for 4000 so, I would say you should be able to do that as well. Privately that is.

Good luck with getting it moved on to get your Toyota.

I tried getting the torque mount out the normal way- as outlined in the how-to- over the summer. Problem was that the bolt at the x-member turned, but so did the rubber isolator, and everything in the mount. Tried PB Blaster-nothing. Local shop tried that, a torch, you name it- still nothing. The castlenut on the x-member has to be cut off (tack-welded in place) and new hardware installed... that's why I'm leaving it as-is- it's not like the motor's going to fall out or anything, but $250 to get this done is money I don't have at the moment. My guess is 90% of people who test-drive the car won't be able to tell the difference.

I would just wait till toyota had one of those trade-in sales where they double your cars trade in value.. so might be able to get like 5k towards the solara
