How did you acquire the car without knowing how much it is worth? Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com) and Edmunds (edmunds.com) both list the 2.3L engine as options when you configure a 2003 or later Focus for a private party or trade in or dealer estimated sale price. So a value is easy and readily available for the 2.3L Focus models.

The PZEV is special since it is a Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle, Tier II Bin 2 or 3, I think. Check www.fueleconomy.gov also. Good luck.

There not rare its where your at. Go to NY or Cali and you'll find em all day long.

Those motors are awesome and there is no problems they have other then normal wear and tear.

Pro's: You have a 2.3L Duratec Mazda engine

Con's: You use BMW oil... use 5w20 Mobile 1 full synthetic

Better look into a new caps lock key. Yours appears to be broken...

5W40 is the wrong oil. Should be 5W20 IIRC..
I had the 2.3 PZev in my '03 Focus wagon (totalled in October) and my daughter has the same engine in her '04 ZX3

Good motor, lots of torque. Much more oomph than a standard 2.0 Zetec.
Only thing I found odd was the 'lifetime' air filter It has a very expensive air filter assembly with a non-replaceable element. There's a little viewing window thingy on the side of it - if it's green, it's still good. Supposed to last for over 100k. I would get 21mpg around town, and 29/30 on a long trip. That was with auto trans. My daughter has a stick and she probably gets 23 or so around town.

You're a lucky man! I'm considering selling my SVT and moving into a 2.3 with some mods, as it would be way more vroom that my SVT, but probably less $ :x
