Any of you ever owned a Mustang GT?

What was the difference in insurance between the GT and your Focus?

I'm thinking of selling my Focus this Spring..and maybe picking up an early 2000's Mustang GT. But after thinking about it more, I have a feeling it will rape my insurance.

Also, to anyone who has owned one, did you DD it all year? Or did you put it away for winter? I'm curious because whatever I buy will be my DD..and I don't know how a Mustang GT would fair being DD'd all year 'round in Wisconsin.

If the 'Stang is going to be too much, then I'm going to look into a Suh-boo-baru. 2.5 RS possibly. Maybe a WRX if I can find a nice one.

i owned 3 mustang 5.0`s back in the day .
1 86 gt 5.0 speed density...the fastest one and the one i modded the most .

the wife had a 89 gt with ground effects and auto .

then i sold my 86 gt ,missed it ,so i picked up a 92 lx gt 5.0 auto .that one was a dog for some reason .it sat out back for 6 months and i barely drove it .i was done with mustangs .
traded it in for a grand am gt for the wife .

none of the 5.0`s were any good at all in the snow .they just spun and went sideways, and they all has posi so it wasnt that .i never tried snows on them ,that might have helped.
wide all seasons on a rear driven mustang dont give you any traction .
the mustangs pretty much sat all winter .
i can comment on the insurance as i,m probably alot older than you so insurance wasnt an issue for me .

pickup a cheap front wheel drive for winter as mustangs arent any good in winter.

Yeah, I figured it probably would be. I'm just kind of curious how bad it would be.

I'm already paying out the ass on the Focus. $84/mo. just for liability. My first year of driving was rough. Lol. So I've got 2 speeding tickets, a seatbelt ticket and an at-fault accident that was with myself. Fell asleep on the interstate at 5am. I knew I should have told the cops it was a deer.

Posted via FF Mobile Beside being tons better, 05s and up were much cheaper to insure then the previous years. To be honest dude, if you really love the mustang, save your money and spring for a 05+. But to be even more honest, keep your focus, drive it into the ground and save your money to get a 2011 5.0. I love mustangs and thought about the same things years back, but its not worth it. Id rather have the mustang I really want then to just get one to get one.

Well I do really like the early 2000 models. They're sexy as hell. And I can find a lot of nice ones in my area. My only concerns are winter driving and insurance.

I love my Zx3 and would just mod it a little to make it faster..but at 123.5k miles, it seems a tad pointless to start that now. Lol.

Never had a Mustang but I had a 76 Camaro LT with a crate 350. Even with snow tires it still sucked driving during the winter. Insurance was high for me at the time because I was only 18. Would probably be cheap for me now since I am 36 and my driving record isn't all that bad. Not sure how old you are but those points tend to build up insurance rates in a hurry.

Me and my bro had a n 07 GT for 5 days and insurance was 290 for a 19 year old kid with one speeding ticket, so yea it's A LOT!
