All the cars I drive that have a cloth seat do it. Not much can be done. I started to tap my forearm onthe door once I stepped out before I touch anything else. You could also hold a metal key and hold it close to some metal to discharge without the shock. You get to see a cool electric arc too.
Don't poke the key at the car though like a door knob or fence post n stuff

But I changed to corbeau suede seats and now I have leather it doesn't zap me

Yup - static shock I've got a real phobia about it. Like already said, just ground yourself on the door frame as you slide out of the seat. It's worse in very dry weather. It's not that something's wrong with your Focus - it's science.

Get a spraybottle mixed with water and some Downy then spray your seats down with it not only will it smell good shock will be gone. Bad thing is static shock can be very bad at the gas pump.

This is why I made it a habit to touch my door everytime I get out of the car

Smile static shock

Thanks for all the info, What I didn't mention was that even if I'am holding the top edge of the door and that black plastic door trim I still get a zap but I guess that's just from slideing out of the seat, I think what I'll try is the downy spray and see if that'll work who knows I just get tired of haveing my hair standing stright up and looking like some wild guy everytime I get out of the car.....Thanks go.army1969 RICK

Posted via FF Mobile Just do this when you get out, take your key and touch the door with it with your fingers touching the metal part of the key. Then close the door. Should work.
