When I see how much premium has gone up in price boy am I glad...

That I got rid of my t/a and my s/c grand prix because the prices are pushing 3.50 a gallon depending upon where you live. Thats part of the reason why I wont turbo my 2010 because it's gonna call for 93 LOL!

Posted via FF Mobile I mean I guess it adds up over the years but how much extra is it really when you fill up, $2, $3 dollars. Lot of people say oh man premium i dont want that its so much more expensive, its really not that crazy.

Ya its getting up there but its still cheeper than here 1.50 euro per liter. 1 euro is more than a dollar. One dollar will get you .71 euro cents.

its not liek premium is the only gas going up. regular goes up too... premium is not much more per fill up, probably not as much per tank as most peoples morning coffee

you also forget, you European people, your cars get much better gas mileage and your octane ratings are much higher than in the states. So to spend $8/gallon there is the same as here when your focus get 50mpg and ours gets 25.

your diesel cars get 2-3x as much mpg as a reg gas vehicle here. your increased price is wiped away with the substantial increases in MPGs.

I've looked at all of your ratings in TopGear and other magazines esp at the Ford line up, the ST Focus gets the worst mpg and thats like 27. The rest of the vehicles are 35/40-60mpg across the board.

Well, I think if you do a search you will find numerous debates about the value of one octane rating over another. It's about the same as asking "what is the best oil". All the replies will be subjective to the user experience and driving experience. Hence, probably worthless to you personally. I think the only way you can approach this sort of question and get any sort of reasonable consensus (and maybe even not then) is to simply to phrase the question as something like "Will I get more power with premium fuel". And even then, your going to get an argument as there are so many caveats.
good luck with it!

really though, if you were planning on spending thousands of $ turbo-ing your car and are worried at a $.30 + in gas prices to have piece of mind and not blow up your engine, you probably don't belong in a turbo car or have business installing a turbo on your car. Not trying to be a dick but that's really all there is to it.

I can't remember who did it but someone did a study where they filled up with 93 octane at a pump instead of 87 octane for one full year. They marked the difference in price each time they filled up. The car was driven at an average 15,000 miles over the course of the year. I forget the make/model of the car used. The difference was something like $35-$38 over an entire year. Honestly, I think my double of hp/tq with the turbo is worth the extra $35 a year to run 93. lol
