Unhappy Popping the hatch

Wasn't really sure where to put this so sorry if it's posted in the wrong spot. Here's my "problem":

In my wife's 05 ZX4 you can pop the trunk while the car is running. In my 05 ZXW the hatch will not open using the dash trunk button or the FOB button unless the car is off, with the keys out of the ignition. Is this some kind of safety feature or something? Is there a way to change this so I can pop the trunk while the car is running?

I have an 01 ZX3 (completely not going to help you, lol) but I, too, can pop mine while doing 75mph. I would assume you should be able to pop it whenever.

My 03 SVT can open anytime, in fact from time to time it opens itself while going down the road. Lots of fun.

My 07 ZX4 didn't let me pop the trunk with the car running. My Taurus won't do it either.

It is possible you have a minor short in the electrical system that is draining power only under certain situations. Has it always been like that, or did it start after some maintenance? What about things like after market upgrades(like a radio)? You would be amazed at the bad job that some places do when it comes to running the wires and connecting everything up.
