2010 Ford Focus S

I am in the process of very likely purchasing a 2010 Ford Focus S. It has 13 miles on it, and we are getting for a little over 18,000 after taxes and licensing. I am trading in a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo with 111,000 miles on it for this car. The Rodeo obviously gets horrible gas mileage, draining me of about 46.00 in gas every 5 or 6 days.

I am thinking the trade is worth it! I am just trying to determine how much in gas I will be saving, b/c the payment on the new vehicle is $80 higher than my payment is now. Insurance will also be around $20 higher. Trying to find a financial balance on my new purchase!

Editing to say that I put 2010, when it is in fact the 2011

Well here's the official government numbers. Just plug in 2010 Focus. 24 city and 34/35 highway, depending on your transmission.

I would aggressively compare that price if I were you...$18,000 out the door on an "S" sounds pretty high to me. Production for the current style ended last Friday, and production on the new 2012 focus starts at the end of January, making that car already two production years old in just a few months. Dealers seem to be working pretty aggressively at trying to clear their inventory of the current focus, so I would try to get that price down a bit. Are you recieving a good APR? Are you taking a big loss on the Rodeo? Also, Ford, and some dealers are offering some great rebates on the 2011's with good/great financing, so it may be in your best interest to look at a 2011, if the rebates and financing is available on the 2010. Look for dealer rebates that can be combined with Ford's rebates, or look for rebates that can be combined with the great financing. Not all dealers are offering the same incentives.

Posted via FF Mobile Yea seriously are you kidding me. An S 2010...for over 18k. Thats ridiculous, you should be getting in an SE AT LeAST...if not an ses. And i hope thats not after the trade in because then your getting scammed even more. Yes its new but also there are 2011s sedans at least, and like stated 2012 production of the new focus has started...so technically its a two year old new car. Walk away, they should be GIVING it to you for around 15 grand.

it does seem high for an S. they had specials for $3000 off last month. an SES is $21,000 roughly. minus the 3k is $18000.

i guess if they are selling the s for 13k and by the time tax/tag and finance rates are added in, it could very well be 15k out the door. so i guess that makes sense.

sounds like the car is being sold for 15k for some reason.

ANYWHO, to the original poster<

i have a 2010 SES. I pay about $33 per fil up and get roughly 360 to 370 miles per tank. and i do a lot of rush hour traffic. when i took a trip over the summer, i was getting 35 MPG.

I did forget to mention that we still own 5500 on the Rodeo, they are giving us 3,000 and some odd dollars, which is leaving a little over 2,000 that we have to tack on to the new loan. Does that make it any better, or should we still look elsewhere?? And we are getting the 3000 rebate and addtnl 400 off for the X plan.

Here I am wondering why ev1 thinks I am so crazy, and then I read back and realize I said 2010 when what I am looking at buying IS the 2011. I'm sorry I've wasted so much of your time, but appreciate any answers on my original question minus the part where I said 2010...again it is a 2011.

I see S models here locally advertised for $12,999. I'm asuming 5sp's? (At one dealer, they were selling SE 5-sp's for this price as well! !8K Sticker.) So, tack on 2K plus another $800 for taxs/registration. 15.8K financed. 60mo. @ 5% interest. Another $1700. These are just rough estimations. So, this is close to your 18K OTD. (I'm assumimg your OTD is including the financing charges.) I honestly think you should step up to the SE model and get a higher trade-in price for your Rodeo. (Pay-Of amount.) Find another dealer and I think w/the X-plan there should be more than $400 off the price of an S model. The next models up will save you even more $. On my SE 19.2K X-plan was 18.3K I believe. Then 3K rebate. A could have gone lower BUT they gave me an excellent $ for my trade-in and the car I bought was the perfect colour w/the exact options I wanted.
