Angry Rear ended at red light. (Pic!)

I kinda knew that delivery driving in Denver, it would be a statistical certainty... but that didn't quell the shock and rage when it actually happened. The guy clipped off a good chunk of my passenger's side rear bumper and did some crumpling to the unibody sheet metal behind it... he hit me with his front driver's side.

The little fofo still seems to drive and track fine... so I don't think he did any major structural damage... but Darn It STILL pisses me off. What's worse, he seemed stoned, and when I called him later tonight to confirm his insurance information, he tried to offer to pay for the damages in medical marijuana. Really, Denver? WTF!?

He's insured, he wasn't a dick about the collision, no one was hurt... all in all, I'm having a hard time figuring out what I'm so pissed about... but I VERY MUCH AM.

Did you call the police? Did you get a police report?

I'd add those two little things to the report if you did. And if you didn't, slap yourself and NEVER do that again.

Good luck with this one.

Oh, and post pics! Carnage is awesome.

Well at least he's insured. I'll admit, the part about him offering you medical marijuana as payment is kinda funny. Hope you get everything sorted out and fixed.

Yeah, I was tempted to tell him "you don't have enough. You need to pay for a new bumper, body work, paint, a Torsen LSD, an Exedy, a header, a tune, a port and polish, a set of forged rods, a set of high compression pistons, etc. etc." XD

I'm still holding out on slapping myself. Moments after the incident, I asked a few cops in the store I work at if I did the right thing, and they said yeah; as long as no one was hurt and both drivers were insured and exchanged information, it was fine.

Here's the thing about this being Denver though... he said he was disabled, which I assume meant he had a medical marijuana card, which makes it more or less legal for him to be stoned whenever he wants. We're with the same insurance company, so I'm hoping when they look at my accident-less driving record, and his medical marijuana card, they'll put two and two together. =/

You got rear ended, you were in control of your car he was not. You shoulda called the police, its an automatic ticket for him, at least it would be in michigan.

I probably would have under other circumstances, but I was on the clock and I was the only delivery driver. I know, poor excuse... the way I see it though, if he's a decent fellow about it (and so far he has been, if a little funny,) I'd rather let the insurance companies handle it than trouble Denver's Finest and deal with any of the legalese myself.

Sounds like you handled it the right way. Personally, if the person seemed "under the influence" be it stoned, drunk, on meth, whatever, I would have called the police.
These things can be frustrating, but you have the insurance info you need to get things taken care of, and you are healthy and your car still goes down the road, all things considered, sounds like a good day.
