should i get a focus?

Hey guys...i'm new here and i'm trying to decied weather or not to get a zx3. I love the style and most things about it, my only problem is that its a ford. I've read up on all the recalls and brake problems and what not, but in light of all these issues the focus has, is it still a wise decision to purchase one? I'm looking for any pros and cons you might have. Thanks :)

Do you want a new one or used?
I have a 03 and haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood). All those recalls were from the 00's and maybe the 01's. I think Ford has fixed almost all the bugs that they had problems with.
I think for the price range you would be very happy with it. You have test driven one haven't you?

Haven't had a problem with my 02 zx5 yet... Really, to tell you the truth, with almost any consumer product, made by a reputable company, you will have a certain range of percentage of lemon products. And those percentages will all be aproximately the same across the board. It's just that some manufacturers handle these in different ways. If it's more efficient for the company to make a product, find out it is a lemon, and let it break, then they will do that. If they find out it would be easier to just recall them and fix them, they will do that, it's all about numbers and how reputable the company is. Really, the focus doesn't have a lot of problems. It's all pepsi and coke, some people swear by fords, some by import, some by chevy's, just buy what's a good price and the features you want. btw, i love my focus.

Thx for the quick response..
I'm looking at getting a 2001...unless of course the 02's have alot of the problems worked out like you mentioned. No, i havn't test driven one yet, I was at the dealers today but the guy had an "appointment" so he had to go, which = no test for me. As for modding...i don't wanna make a ricer...just do like intake, exhaust, and rims...bout it.
btw..i'm trying to get a black, manual, 01 and i'm shooting to spend like 7-8k to buy it..sound resonable?

yeah, that sounds reasonable to me. when u go to the dealers, ask them if they have had the recalls checked on the car. they more than likely have.

there hasn't been a recall on the focus since mid 01. Also modding doesn't make ur car rice. Rice is when u do stop exterior stuff.

Welcome aboard.

Depending on the miles, 7-8k isn't too bad. Before you buy, make sure they run your VIN for recalls that haven't been fixed. I have a '00 with literally no problems. I've read somewhere that sedans are more proned to damage than the ZX3 simply because its built at a newer plant.
