Angry Sunroof/Moonroof

WTF!! So I bought my 03 ZX3 back in April brand spankin new, and I couldn't be happier with it. Except now, about 2 weeks ago I went to the mall and parked my car and pressed the button to lower my sunroof (I've got the power sunroof/moonroof combo, you can pop it up or slide it back) and it does nothing. I press both buttons over and over and it does nothing. So I took it to my local Ford dealer and they managed to get it back to the closed position and told me that they didn't know what the problem was, but not to open it again because it probably won't close. They didn't think it was the motor in it, but they didn't have any "sunroof specialists" working that day. I will have to take it back to my original dealer (30 miles away) in order for the warranty to cover the problem according to this dealer. Well, I haven't exactly had the time or money to go to the original dealer and it's been aggrivating me that the sunroof isn't positioned right in the track, so I pressed the button to pop it the other day just to see what happened, and it slid it back to the regular position of it being closed. Now, even though it looks normal, all I hear is air creeping through whenever I drive it, it's like having a back window cracked all the time, it's driving me nuts.
So as if that's not bad enough, now my power door locks make a strange clicking noise when the car shifts into drive and the power windows sound like their off track every time I roll them up. WTF is going on with my car??!!! I got ripped off at the dealer in the first place, I'm paying way too much for the car. So did I get a dud too??
Has anyone else had these problems with their car, or have you heard about any recalls on the 03s? Thanks in advance for your help.

There's some recalls on the older Foci before 2002 but I haven't seen or heard of a bulletin for recalls on the 2003 Focus.
I had a simular moon roof on my Zx2 and never had any problems with it.
Someone at this website might be able to help if you call.

Good luck.

One time I couldn't close my sunroof after I left it open all day but It worked later on. If it is covered under warranty you should be able to take it to any Ford dealership and get it fixed free of charge.

Emilee--

Are you sure that the "car locks making a funny noise when you shift into drive" isn't normal? I know that my car locks itself once I pull out of my parking spot, etc. Freaked me out the first time or two, I'll admit.

Sorry about the sunroof/moonroof problem. I haven't had any problems w/ mine but I'll keep your post in mine if I do!

If it was really hot that day. It might have been a wire or simply the motor being over-heated. My back windows won't work when it's really hot and I try to put them down when I get in the car. But after driving for about a minute or so and the car starts to get cooler they start to work.

interesting...my locks make a funy noise also but its only the passenger one...I'm not too worried about it...like when u get in the car and only unlock the one door (driverside) the passenger side is still locked until you hit the unlock button twice...if u only hit it once and leave the pass. door locked when u put the car into reverse/drive and drive for a sec or so they will auto lock...since the pass. door is locked already it makes a weird noise because its locking a lock thats already locked so its like your trying to close a door thats already closed....the motor still turns on but it makes a noise because nothin is moving...if u want the noise to stop do what I do all the time now, unlock both doors and then drive cause then the lock will auto lock, but since its not locked already the motor won't be sticking and it will actually be doing somethin...that happens on my 03 too...its just the motor...its not harming it or anything just has nowhere to go...sorry bout the moonroof! ANY dealership should be able to give u the warranty repair so the dealer is tryin to screw u cause it doesn't wanna take its time to take the moonroof out to fix the motor...they know theres somethin internally wrong probably, they just don't wanna fix it! Bitch at em or go to the other dealer...u don't want em to **** somethin else up or scratch u'r car when their trying to fix it if their pissed....that won't be under warranty...just a suggestion...good luck!

yea my sunroof does weird stuff too.. if i press back it doesnt do anything.. but if i press up, it will slide all the way back and lift up until i release the button.. if i continue to hold the forward button, the moonroof will go back down and go forward.. if i dont release the button fast enough, i have to go through the whole thing again, to get it the right position..

I bought a new switch thinking it was that, but nope.. was not..

I have a problem with my moonroof too. The switch is screwed up. If you double click the close button, it will close, then auto pull back halfway. Also, you can't open the sunroof more than halfway. The only way to close it is to tap the close button, otherwise it'll auto open again halfway. Its been doing this for 3 weeks now, i have had no time what so ever to get it fixed.

That is a load of bull, Ford is providing the warrenty, they are a ford dealer... If they try to give you that crap ask to talk to the service manager. If they continue to give you trouble, call ford and report that the dealership refused to honor your warrenty.

I have a power moonroof in my ZTS and I've had it for over a year with no problems.
