Another "How comes this is always missing?" thread (or should that be rant?)

You may recall my recent rant about missing ATX lockout switch covers? Well now I have to bitch about missing center console cup holder inserts, specifically the one from the passenger side.

I've now bought two cars and it was missing from both. It was also missing from 6 out of the 7 in my local breakers yard (and you better believe I snagged the one that WAS there!). Almost ever car I see you guys part out on here is missing it too. So what's the deal?

OK, sure, if it doesn't fit a Big Gulp or whatever, then take it out. But for lawds sake keep it someplace handy so you can put it back in the car when you come to sell it! ARRGH!

And don't get me started on missing Power Socket covers. Though I saved the one from my Contour before I sold it for the one car and the other car, though the guy claimed to not know where it was, I found it underneath the rear seat.

I went dumpster diving for my passenger cupholder many times before I said eff it and bought a Euro center console that doesn't have removable cupholders (both cupholders are part of one big rubber piece)
REALLY? Wow! That would totally piss me off.

But people aren't allowed to eat or drink in my cars anyhow, so it probably wouldn't happen to me. To further discourage them, I also have that plastic ash tray/can thing sitting in the passenger side.

My cupholders are useless, anything Vitamin Water-sized or larger gets stuck. Anything smaller falls out. Sounds like something else in life, really.

I think I'm going to get some Velcro on the bottom of mine then. If it doesn't hold, at least the extra friction might get the notice of someone trying to pull the whole thing out with their cup/bottle.

that isnt going to do much good. If you put a cold drink in there, the container will sweat, the water will get in to the velcro making it useless

Huh? How is the sweat going to get through the rubber of the cup holder to the Velcro beneath?

lol you guys have to screw the holders down. theres a screw in the panel underneath it, just take that out and screw it through the cupholder. problem solved

its one of those things that make you wonder why it didnt just come that way
