Why i am never buying a ford again

well here we go:

1.Engine failing at 140k, then again at 153k...what other car has ever dropped a valve seat? Especially one that was well maintained and never abused?
I mean come on its the 21st century cars are supposed to last over 200k of you maintain them and not abuse them ...subarus, nissans, toyotas, hondas do it all the time...oh wait...they're Japanese...they dont count

2.A used, shitbox, SOHC Ford focus motor that makes 110 crappy horsepower from 2 liters(ok that pretty impressive for 1980 i guess), and gets average gas mileage(actually piss poor for 110 horsepower) costs $800-$1000...are you serious? its not a bmw or a benz...these are motors which are 80k or 90k miles (If someone can find one cheaper in the pittsburgh area please let me know)

The only good thing about the ford focus is this forum...i love this place and i love how awesome you guys are, its just a shame that we all dont drive some better cars you know...

the SPI will drop valve seats every now and then. I never had that problem with mine. All cars have some problem, in this case one model has a valve seat that likes to fail.

since you have been on the forum you've never noticed the threads about the spi motors dropping valve seats? or how to avoid it?
Whats funny is you can pick them up dirt cheap on ebay, usually less than 500 shipped with low milage.
the spi was pretty much the red headed step child.
by the way, show me any of the cars you mentioned that last that long being a daily driver. most I see are rusting or plain trashed after 150k unless grandma had it in a garage.

From the way you sound on this forum, it's like the car you have HAS been abused, plus things do happen often after 100k miles in any car. besides....toyota is stopping production and recalling millions of cars for a "stuck" gas pedal and your complaning about a valve? wow

I dont know about the whole toyota thing. 4 cars or something crashed due to dumb drivers who do not know how to deal with stuck throttle. Also it is not the throtle but the latch on the floor mat which may break or not hold the mat correctly and let it slide up, and possibly POSSIBLY cause the throttle to get stuck...

and complaining about a valve seat...it is a part that is taken for granted because it never cause engine failure, its unheard of on most cars...it may happen on 1/1000000 or something

ive def. noticed the thread. one main reason i will not buy a ford is because its a issue that so many SPIs have, and ford has done nothing about it.

as for your other issue. lets start with my dads impreza which is 14 years old, has 235,500k miles (i know because i had to drive it dosay because my shitbox failed me again) and still runs fine. has no problems going on pittsburgh parkways where you must drive 75-80 mph to survive, especially in the morning. definetly pulls better up these hills. oh and it also passes SUVs on snow covered hills. thats always fun to do. seeing the soccer moms face as her crappy honda pilot or ford explorer is being passed by a little green subaru always makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.

i have many friends who have cars from these manufacturers with as many miles as my focus that still run perfectly fine...and they say that american car companies are bankrupting because of unions...no its because they make a shit product and patriotism is no longer sells cars...ok i admit the unions must have alot of influence on the poor quality

also please find me a SPI for 500 or less shipped on ebay that has about 70k miles on it and i will paypall you 50 bucks my man
