About AWD system (Which one is the best?)

I am getting interested in AWD cars.
And there are so many different AWD.
in your own opinion, which company makes the best AWD?
I want to know are they reliable and really works well.
Audi, BMW, Benz, Subaru and so on...

I am talking about family car not for off road.
anyone have any idea or information to share?
I really want to know which AWD is the best for DD and family.
I really want a AWD that really works great.

thanks for helping me once again.
Steven

Subaru, in my opinion...they have the drivetrain laid out straight to take advantage of it. They also seem to have a really good 50/50 weight balance.

subarus are great, i work for a dship and everything is just super nice abotu them but now since they are kinda merging with toyota im a little skeptical about their future products and nfluences form toyota.

but they are so nice for real, if you were wnating awd get a subie. and try to get and extended warranty plan if you plan on keeping the car for a while

It's the truth. I was present at those same exact demonstrations at various
"Ride and Drive" events Subaru presents for their sales staff. I've been with them just shy of 7 years now and there's honestly no hokus-pokus with either of those videos. We have 5 distinct AWD systems, based on model line, transmission and engine combination. The key thing is they are all
100% permanently engaged, vs the typical "reactive" system that Honda, Toyota, Ford, etc. use. Audi's Quattro/VW 4-Motion are also excellent systems and they both performed really well in those comparisons shown in the video. BMW's, Ford's, Toyota's, M-B's, Nissan's, etc. all performed much poorer, some shockingly so.

Our dealer also sells Volvos, and we often have people cross shopping brands. We happily go out in the winter and have them drive an Outback back to back with a Cross Country in deep snow and let the customer see for themselves the differences in real world situations.

To clarify..there is no merger, I hate when people say that. Toyota owns roughly 16.5% stock in Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru's parent company. There is some sharing of technology of course, for example the DI 2.0 that's going in the new Toyota/Subaru "coupe" is a Subaru engine and design, and I would expect we'll see that in the next. gen. Impreza and Forester. In return we have access to Toyota's expertise in hybrid systems.

Subaru builds Camrys for Toyota, too, has been for a couple of years now. They come out of the same assembly plant in Lafayette, IN as our Legacy, Outback and Tribeca, but they are not remotely related, platform wise. Simply a way of keeping the plant running at full capacity.

"Reactive" system by Haldex. Same type of system in Fords, Volvos, etc. Reacts pretty quickly to front wheel slippage, but it's not permanently engaged. It's been a pretty reliable system in our Volvos, seldom any issues related to it.
