Foci (old and new) Model Designation Acronyms?

I have wondered what all the model letter acronyms really stand for across the Foci line?

I'm just guessing, but does the SES on my 2010 Sedan stand for, (S)eems (E)xtremely (S)low?

Does anybody know what they all stand for?

Charles

No idea what they are either, and I'd like to know as well.

I always assumed S = Standard, SE = Special Edition, SES = ???

The older generation was a little easier... I think.

ZTS = ZeTec Sedan
ZTW = ZeTec Wagon
ZX3, ZX5 = Zetec x Number of Doors

Personally I hate some of the newer naming schemes manufacturers use. Especially Chevy's and Honda's. Having that "LS" or "DX" badge on the back of your car pretty much screams "HEY, I HAVE THE CHEAPEST BASE TRIM!!!"

SES may mean Special Edition Sport?
SEL may mean Special Edition Luxury?

Good point, r1derbike. That would explain why the SES exclusively got the rear sway bar. Although it's sad to think that slapping a rear sway bar on automatically makes it "sporty". It's unfortunate how that term seems to get watered down a lot. When I see "sport" I think faster engine, lower/stiffer springs, and front/rear (thicker) sway bars as part of the whole package.

Nope, I wish it did tho. The LX was the base model without anything. Thats what my car is, a LX. SE was the mid range and the ZTS was like the SES.

I honestly dont think the S, SE, and SES stand for anything. Because that the trim designation on all current Ford cars and SUV's.

I remember that the 2010 SES got a 20mm rear sway bar, but not sure if the SEL got same.

EDIT: Models with 16" wheels (SEL, others?) get the 18mm rear sway bar for 2010. Models with 17" wheels (SES) get the 20mm rear sway bar.

It seems the SES also got some suspension tuning over the SEL, but can't be certain.

2009-2010 focus questions

According to page 5 of that thread that's what the 2010 SES offers, not sure it was applicable in '09 and earlier.

Thanks, norcalfocus01. I'm reading too much into the model designations, methinks!
