Need some FF expertise

Hi everyone, I am currently looking to purchase an SVT focus. The only problem is i don't have much knowledge of them, im hoping the community here could help me out. The car I am currently looking at is a 2004 SVTF euro with 78,000 miles. I was curious do these cars have any trouble spots i should watch out for? Any maintenance that should have been completed already? Also i am a college student who has to commute everyday. So the car is going to see a lot of high way miles. How durable is the powertrain, will it withstand some high mileage? Any info would be awesome, like i said im trying to get a feel for these cars before i buy one.

Travis

Ask if the clutch has been replaced. common on the SVT Focus' and they aren't cheap.

Whatever you do, I would try to buy a nearly "stock" one - while there are many fine examples of modded engines, I would be a bit leery of inheriting someone else's problem.... I only have a a 2006 zx3, but it has been a good investment so far...

SVT trouble spots:

Most severe: clutch failures. Check and make sure the clutch was replaced under the TSB (if applicable).

Troublesome: leaking t-stat housing (check for a coolant leak around the housing), broken coil pack harness (check for exposed wires, etc), and occasional fuel pump failures, shift linkages popping out.

Little headaches: flaky TPS, sticking IACV, weak sway bar end links, shady wheel bearings, t-stat housing plug (o-ring goes bad) which causes a tiny coolant leak.

Thanks for the heads up. What is the TSB though, i can't figure out what it stands for. Im a little bit of a noob, haha.

Also has anyone put like 120000 miles on one of these cars. Thats how many miles i expect the car to have when i get rid of it and i just want to make sure its going to last.
