need some helpful hints if possible!

i'm going to be building my own lowering springs so i was hoping people could help me out on determining the diameter of the spring and what a good spring rate will be for a 1.5" drop front and rear... any help would be MUCH appreciated!

that really dose not sound like a safe idea. Springs are cheap enough

My question would be, exactly how do you plan on building springs?
thinking a cartain diameter steel bar wound around something?
it's obvious you haven't the faintest on where to start or for that matter what to use. Otherwise you would not be here looking for the information that a simple search on the net would give answers too. Springs cannot simply be built at home with stuff from home depot. theres a science to it and a whole lot of forging and other tools needed.

haha thanks for backin me up yoda. my dad builds springs for a living for monster trucks, motocross, nascar, snowcross. believe me, he knows what he's doing. he already built a set for his freestyle. i just needed to get basic dimensions of the springs for the focus so i wouldnt have to tear mine apart to do so. and thanks to yoda i got the dimensions needed. now its production time :) YEAH BOI! thanks norcal i'll post an update when theyre done and installed lol

Do a 2" drop, IMO it looks way better. Also Im sure you know this but you want to find dampners that match the spring rate you make.

haha yeah i looked at pictures of a focus with a 1.5" drop and it still had a 'stock' looking ride height to me so im going to go with a 2-2.25" drop. should i do that all around? yeah, i still gotta go shopping around for the dampners haha i got probably 1-2 weeks to get them before i get the springs back. i'm just hoping theyre finished before the 30th so i can put them on at yoda's haha

If possible build the springs to the Eibach spring rate, then get the Eibach pro dampner kit form Tire Rack. 300 to your door, cheapest I found.
