Smog shop BSing me around

i went to get my car smogged and my check engine light came on. so the guy said it would be an automatic fail. so i took it to the dealership and 150 dollars later said it was the fuel level sensor that i replaced a year ago. so they said use cheveron from now on to clean off the sensor. so then i took my car back to the smog shop and they were out of smog certs and they said their system wouldn't let them purchase anymore. so then i go to try to go to a different shop and by now most are closed. so i wait till monday and go to the closest shop by my house. my car passed emissions but they said my intake smog sticker said it was for a 5 SPEED only i was livid and said wtf are you talking about transmissions have nothing to do with smog. so i paid the basterds and proceded home to put my stock intake on. had to go to napa for some tamper proof torq. and put it on and they charged me for the retest with a measly 10 bucks off. so next i went to where i bought the intake and they said it was for all focus applications. the wording said ford focus blah blah blah and manual trans not only manual trans. so tomorrow i'm calling BAR to talk to aem to change the wording to say auto and manual so i can get my damn money back from that stupid hole in the wall smog shop.

Alls i can say, next time if you want to save a couple of bucks, i know most auto parts stores will check the code for free. Other than that im glad my state doesnt require any smog tests at all. but we're still strict on emissions though :(

Yeah Cali Smog sucks butt. I found out the hard way to this year.

The Smog guy is retard. You dont even have a Zetec and all he was worried about is the fact that you didnt have a manual. Well hoefully you'll have a manual soon

I'm not quite clear on California smog testing procedure; do I understand correctly that you guys go to private owner smog shops for testing?

Its any shop that has been approved by the DMV to be a SMOG shop. There are two types of shops the normal everyday auto shop that also does SMOG, then the test only station. Test only stations can do only that test, if you fail they cant tell you what made you fail, what to fix, or fix it for you.

Yes it is that ghey.
